We always encourage parents to speak to their children in their home language if this is something the family wish to do.

Being bilingual doesn’t cause a language difficulty, but children learning two languages may master their skills in both languages at a slower rate than a child developing one language only (as different languages vary in structure, grammatical rules and vocabulary).

General tips

Be natural – If you are confident using both languages, then do so.

If not, keep to the language that you are most comfortable with. It is important that your child is supported to learn one language well.

Be consistent – Separate the languages by:

Person (e.g. the first language consistently used by one parent and the second by the other parent)

Location (e.g. the first language at home and English at nursery)

Activity (e.g. the first language at bath time, English at breakfast etc.)



Keep it simple – Whichever language you are using, keep your talking to short phrases. Add gestures and facial expressions to show the meaning of what you are saying.

Keep talking – Provide your child with lots of opportunities for language learning (e.g. use songs, books, outings, games).

Be positive – Help your child to feel successful in understanding and using language. S/he may respond in his/her first language when spoken to in English (or vice versa) or may mix words from both languages in the same phrase. This is a successful communication and demonstrates that your child is learning from both languages.

Accessible Parks in Bletchley

Last week, we shared a list of accessible parks that we knew about. Since then, many of our followers have recommended additional parks in the comments, helping us expand the list. Thank you for sharing your recommendations.

We are still in the process of identifying and checking more accessible parks across Milton Keynes, but for now, here are some accessible parks in Bletchley.

𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐩𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐰 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤
Location: Chepstow Drive, Bletchley, MK3 5NJ
Here you'll find a wheelchair-accessible swing. The area is kept locked to prevent unauthorised use and can be accessed using a standard RADAR key.
There is no on-site parking; please use nearby street parking.

𝐅𝐥𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤
Location: Flowers Walk, Bletchley, MK3 6GT
Here you'll find a wheelchair-accessible roundabout and a wheelchair-accessible trampoline. "You and Me" swing, designed to allow children and carers, friends or siblings to enjoy the equipment together.
There is no on-site parking; please use nearby street parking.
The park is located adjacent to Bletchley Park and is themed to celebrate the Codebreakers (hence the name “Flowers” after Tommy Flowers, engineer and computer pioneer who played a key role in developing the Colossus computer during World War II).

Good morning everyone

An important letter has been uploaded onto Tapestry. Your child’s end of year report has also been published for you to read and your child’s learning journey is also ready for you to download.

Staff have put in a lot of time, effort and love into making these documents for you and your child and they are a wonderful record of your child’s first experience of education. There also provide a key insight into your child’s learning and learning style for their primary school.

Another very hot day to come today. Please make sure your child comes to nursery prepared for the heat. Individual water bottles are accepted in nursery today to ensure children remain hydrated.

We will try to keep the children as cool as possible.

Stay safe everyone and remember to drink more than you normally would due to the heat.
