Over the Easter break we began investing more into our outdoor areas and had brand new gym equipment installed 🏋️💪

Last week, our PE lessons focussed on learning how to use each piece of equipment safely and the safety rules to follow whilst waiting for a turn. This week our children have been let loose on the equipment at break and lunch time 🤩

Today it is Jungle and Andes’ turn and it’s safe to say the children are loving the new equipment ☀️

We can’t wait to show you what else we have planned for our outdoor areas to even further enrich our playtimes and ensure that each and every child is physically active throughout the school day 🥰

A big thank you goes to our fantastic School Council who have been campaigning for this equipment over the past few months 👥

Woodrow Day 3

For our last morning, we enjoyed another fantastic breakfast before our final activity: The Woodrow Challenge. We had to put all the teamwork, communication and problem solving skills we have learnt during our trip to the test to complete a range of activities. 🤩

Our children absolutely shone during the challenge and it is clear to see how beneficial this trip has been.

We ended with a review of our experience and took turns to speak about our favourite parts and what we have learnt. It was so lovely to hear our children speaking so confidently about their achievements and new memories they have made with their friends.

After a final delicious lunch (including ice cream for dessert!), we said goodbye to Woodrow. 🍦👋🏻

Each and every child has been a true credit to our school and their families and we are literally bursting with pride at the way in which they have represented our school community. 🤩

Thank you to our families for trusting us with your fantastic young people, our wonderful school staff for giving up their time to go on the trip, and the INCREDIBLE staff at Woodrow High House ❤️

Woodrow Day 2 - Evening Update

This afternoon the groups swapped and completed the following activities:

Mrs Lucca-Morris and Mrs Gibson’s group - High Ropes: Traverse and Leap of Faith
Mrs Renwick’s group - Low Ropes and Archery
Miss K’s group - Challenge Course and Low Ropes

The children literally threw themselves into each activity with enthusiasm and aspiration. We are so incredibly proud of them all. 🤩

After another lovely dinner, there was some free time to play board games, football or hide and seek in the woods. 🎲⚽️🌳

Tonight the children are getting ready for their movie night with hot chocolate and biscuits before they get tucked into bed for another big sleepover. 🎬☕️🍪🥰

Woodrow Day 2 - Morning Update

The children settled and slept well last night and were up bright and early for a delicious breakfast and a morning full of activities! 😊

Mrs Renwick and Miss K’s group completed two high ropes challenges: Traverse and Leap of Faith. In Traverse, the children climbed across three levels of high ropes, including a wooden beam and two wire bridges. In Leap of Faith, the children climbed up a large wooden pole, climbed on top of the platform at the top and took a leap of faith to catch a trapeze bar! 🤩

Mrs Lucca-Morris and Mrs Gibson’s group had their turn at archery. The children challenged themselves and learnt to take their time when aiming. Our staff were so impressed by the children’s support for each other. They then completed the Low Ropes course where the children challenged themselves to complete a trim trail course with support from their peers. 🏹🎯

All groups will swap activities this afternoon so everyone has had a go at everything. Look out for more photos this evening! 👍🏻

Our Year 4 children have had a fantastic first day at Woodrow. 🥰

The whole group completed a scavenger hunt challenge to learn their way around the Woodrow grounds. The children were allowed to explore the whole site independently and showed the most incredible teamwork and communication skills. Our school staff were so proud of them all and could already see some important life skills being developed. 🤩

Mrs Renwick, Mrs Lucca-Morris and Mrs Gibson’s groups then completed the Challenge Course where the children had to work as a team to complete a large obstacle course.

Miss K’s group did some archery. The children loved trying this new skill and developed their resilience in a friendly competition to see who could hit the target with increasing accuracy. 🎯🏹

After a lovely dinner, the children then enjoyed their evening activity: Manor Mysteries. 5 VERY suspicious suspects wearing some questionable clothing were thoroughly interviewed by the children to solve a murder mystery! 🕵️

Our Year 4 pupils set off on their residential trip to Woodrow this morning with our amazing staff. 🚌

We loved seeing our parents wave them off, even if we do have slightly less tissues than we did before. 🥹😍🥹

The intrepid travellers have had a tour of the house, eaten lunch and are now exploring the grounds before their first activity this afternoon.

We can’t wait to see what they get up to! 🤩

We’ve had a lovely day breaking the rules in aid of Red Nose Day! 🔴

We’ve had a wonderful mix of children wearing their own clothes, spraying their hair a different colour, brining in sweets with their lunch, and brining in soft toys or fidgets 🍬🧸

Mrs Pegg took great delight in breaking all four of the rules today. She said her favourite one was dying her hair red! 😂

So far we have raised nearly £450, with more donations still coming in. Thank you to our generous families and staff members for supporting this fantastic cause 🥰

Year 6 had the BEST day today participating in Red Bull’s STEMx Race Day Experience! 🏎️🏁

- They completed the Coding Challenge where they were tasked with programming a model car to travel around a racetrack 🧑‍💻

- They put their teamwork skills to the test in the Pit Stop Challenge where teams were timed to see how quickly they could change the tyres on an F1 car 🛞

- The children enjoyed taking part in a studio experience, conducting post-race interviews and navigating the journalists questions 🎥

- The afternoon saw everyone construct their own model cars and put them to test against each other on the racetrack 🏎️

What a fantastic experience for our future engineers, designers, technicians and journalists 🤩

Year 2 had a fantastic trip to Milton Keynes Museum yesterday to further their History learning on the Victorians! 🏫

The children enjoyed a guided tour of the museum house and Victorian cottage, including the parlour, servants’ room, laundry and kitchen areas, and learnt about how life was different in the Victorian era 💡☎️

The children were beautifully behaved and represented our school wonderfully. Thank you so much to our staff and volunteers for helping make a fantastic learning and experience and memory for our children 🥰
