Gentle reminder about Reception's trip to Gulliver's Dinosaur Park and Farm tomorrow, Thursday 20th June.

Please ensure children wear their school uniform, so they are easily identifiable by staff, and trainers or comfortable shoes. Please provide a sunhat and apply sunscreen beforehand.

Children should not bring any spending money with them as we will not be visiting the gift shop.

Children will need to bring a packed lunch in a carrier bag, including a (non-fizzy) drink, preferably in a disposable bottle that can be opened and closed (not a carton of juice). To minimize the amount of things being carried around, where possible, the lunch should be provided in disposable containers so that any rubbish can be collected once the children have eaten. If you have ordered a packed lunch through The Pantry then we will collect this.

We will enter the park at 10am and stop for lunch at around 11:15am. To avoid children having to carry their lunches and water bottles, we will store them in a safe area during this time and can return to them if we need to. Children do not need to bring any bags to carry their belongings in.

We will be returning to school for 2:30pm. If you wish to pack your child an afternoon snack as you normally would then we shall eat this upon our return. If not, we always have a selection of fruit to offer the children.

Thank you for your continued support 💜

This coming Friday....

Mufti-Day - Friday 21st June

We are really excited for our annual Summer Fete on Saturday 29th June, which is being organised by Friends of Fairfields – our PTA!

One of our most popular stalls is always our tombola, and we couldn’t run this without your help. We are running a Mufti-Day, where children can wear their own clothes to school in exchange for bringing in an item for our Tombola!

We are asking each Year Group to bring in the following items:

Nursery and Reception – Smellies (please note that anything sent in must be unused and sealed)

Year One and Year Two – Sweet Treats – chocolate, sweets etc (as long as they are in date!)

Year Three and Year Four – Toys, Games and Teddies (these can be second hand if they are in a good, usable condition)

Year Five and Year Six – bottles (if you choose to send in bottles of alcohol, an adult must bring the bottle to school, and it can be handed over to a member of office staff)

Our Mufti-Day will take place on Friday 21st June. Please send the items in with the children on this day (unless the item contains alcohol, and it can be handed over to the office staff as mentioned above).

We are really looking forward to this event and hugely appreciate your support!

If anyone has availability to support us on the day, please send an email to [email protected] who will be grateful for any assistance you can provide.

Thank you for your continued support 💜

If you order your child's lunch through The Pantry, please ensure that you place your order by 9am on the day at the very latest. We have seen an increased number of children who do not have a lunch ordered for them and this causes a lot of disruption at lunch time, that we would like to avoid.

Thank you, as always, for your cooperation 💜

14/06/2024

A fantastic last night from all the Y6 children. We have had breakfast and just got on the coach to begin our long journey home. We will be stopping for lunch again at Chieveley Services and will keep this page updated later on with our estimated time of arrival. Please feel free to collect your children directly from the side door of the school hall. We really have had a wonderful time together and made memories to last a lifetime.

13/06/2024

Y6 have spent a wonderful day at the Needles and Alum Bay. With very little phone signal there, we have been unable to provide you an update till now. The children loved the boat trip, the sand sculptures and shopping for souvenirs. We are now back at the hotel preparing for an evening of fun and dancing. Mr McAndrew has his best shirt and flares ready to go! 🕺

Reception parents/carers,

Just a little reminder about tomorrow, Friday 14th June...

As part of our literacy in the upcoming weeks, we would like to explore letter writing. We thought it would be a lovely experience for the children to write a letter to their family and then walk to the post box in Fairfields to post it.

If you have not done so already, please could you send your child in with a stamped address envelope addressed to your child for them to put their letter in and post back to their family.

Please provide permission via the trips tab on your MCAS account by 9am on the 14th June 2024.

Y6 have had a wonderful afternoon and evening. A FULL 14 hours of fun, adventures and learning. All children and staff are truly shattered. Carisbrooke Castle, a wonderful dinner and fun and games on the beach. All tucked up in bed now and ready for another day. Night night.

We can now accept card payments for the ice lolly sale on Friday 🍦🍧🍡

Year 6 have had a great morning exploring the Cretaceous, Jurassic and Triassic past of the island. We have come face to face with over 2500 species of extinct creature. We even managed to find some dinosaur bones and poo on the beach! 🦕

12/06/2024

After another successful morning, year 6 are on their way to the Dinosaur Isle museum experience. We will then be fossil hunting along the beach. Last year, the children found fossilised coral and even a million year old shark tooth! Let’s hope we are as lucky today! 💜
