Pumpkin Class have been working hard to form letters correctly in their written work- look their fabulous concentration!
Miss Jacobs shared the story of Ruby Bridges with us in assembly as we learned how she showed courage and perseverance in the face of discrimination
This afternoon Rosehip set up their scientific experiment to explore which liquids cause the most tooth decay. The children chose all the variables, including the amount of liquid in each container, which liquids to use and how long to run the experiment. We will report our findings back in 2 weeks!
This week the children in Daisy Class have been focusing their learning around houses as they enjoyed the story Dave's Cave and his journey to find a new house.

Today we hosted a Netball game against local school Caroline Haslett. This gave more children from both schools the opportunity to represent their school and take part in netball. Fantastic effort from everyone involved and we look forward to hosting more events at CtS!
Year 2 have been learning about the suitability of everyday materials for particular uses. Yesterday we conducted an experiment to identify the best material to absorb water. We found out that the kitchen roll and cloth had soaked up the most water after 15 minutes, compared to the foil and plastic bag which didn't absorb any of the water.
Cauliflower cards season is here!🎊 EYFS have been making their cards today to send home on Friday🙏🏽 It’s a great opportunity for parents to get their child’s work made into Christmas cards for family and friends 🫶🏽

We have made the most of every second on our last morning at PGL. We have reached new heights on the climbing wall and worked on our team work across the challenge course! 🧗 now for a quick lunch before we pack up the coach, ready to come home coach 🚌
This morning we had our Harvest Festival assembly led by Year 3 and 4. The children were fantastic at explaining the origin of harvest festival and how we collect to support those in need. Well done to Year 3 and 4 on an amazing assembly! 💪🏻🎃🌾✝️

This afternoon, we all faced our fears on the giant swing and practised our aim in archery… some of us even got a bullseye 🎯
The year six pupils that are in school have spent today making pizza! They designed,budgeted, shopped, and even designed their own boxes! A very successful day
Part 2 of raft building and aeroball!
Year 6 have had to work together build their own rafts… they were all successful and managed to row across the lake! We all tried something completely new too - Aeroball! Imagine a mixture of basketball and volleyball…. On a trampoline!! 🏀

Children in EYFS are enjoying their Read Write Inc. phonics carousel 🐸 some children are using their fine motor skills in an activity (this week is peg boards) whilst others are watching the virtual classroom, practising their letter formation with Miss Jacobs and learning to blend with Mrs Parry 🤩
We have had a brilliant first day at PGL! We have all had a go at the zip wire and fencing 🤺 the rain did not stop us one bit!!

This afternoon Rosehip class are using charcoal again! After a fantastic warm up creating marks on a page, the children are using charcoal, oil pastels, pencil and chalk to create story pages using a range of objects from around the school. This is one step along our path to creating an accordion book to tell a story. 🎨🖌🐶🦖🦕
Yesterday Year 4 began exploring the different types of pronouns. After some discussion and learning, we played a game and the children were able to vote if they thought the pronoun was possessive or personal! All of the children did really well, and this later reflected in their work. 💪🏼🌟
Today we held our first Young Voices Choir rehearsal after school. We had fantastic time learning some of the songs that we will be performing at the NEC in January!
Children in Foundation have been learning about germs using glitter🦠Miss Jacobs showed the class the importance of washing their hands with soap to prevent us from spreading germs🧼
Year 2 have continued their learning in Art this week by exploring how to draw using a continuous line. We looked very closely at our object focussing on the lines and shapes we could see.
A very busy day in Year 3: using base ten to solve calculations in maths and completing our science experiments on the best material for a helicopter drop.
Calling all volunteers! CtS will be participating in the food bank's MK Can World Record Breaking attempt at Campbell Park on Monday 16th October. We need volunteers to help any time between 9.00am - 4.00pm (long or short) on the day to help represent our incredible school and children. In our PSHE meeting today, Miss Jacobs asked us to look at the life skills that we want our children to have by the time they leave CTS. Our teachers have planned 5 skills to teach our children in each year. These build up into a bank of skills that will ensure they are successful both now and in their future.
This morning Year 4 had a fantastic PSHE lesson about positive friendships. The children discussed what makes a good friend and how to make new friends. They then created a list of the top 5 most important qualities in a good friend.
Just to let you know, particularly if you are local to the school, that our fire alarms have sounded this morning and the Fire Service have attended in line with our fire drill safety protocols.
Just to reassure you that all is well in school - all procedures worked really well and everyone is back in class and learning.

Wow, oh wow! Year 1 (Pumpkin class) absolutely adored STEM week! We designed our own super cars after a fantastic visit from the Volkswagen team. Got to learn all about different types of cars (year 1 particularly loved learning about charging the electric ones!). We designed, created and refined our own marble mazes, working on our team work skills. We also learnt about the amazing Dawn Childs and how she designed and created rollercoasters Merlin Entertainment.
