From everyone at Monkston Primary School, we hope you all have a safe and enjoyable summer break, and can’t wait to welcome you back on Thursday 5th September!

Operating as usual
For our year 5/6 EURO Championship, Belgium beat Italy 5-4 in a penalty shoot-out - both goalkeepers made great saves! Congratulations 'Belgium'! ⚽️⚽️⚽️
Well done year 6 on their fantastic production of ‘Shrek Jnr’. An amazing end of year production for the end of their primary journey.
Huge congratulations to 'Germany' for winning the year 3/4 Euros Championship! ⚽️⚽️⚽️
Year 5 were lucky enough to have a visit from Buckinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service to learn more about what the role of a firefighter is, the uniform and safety precautions they take and even got a sneaky peak inside their fire truck! A huge thank you to the firefighters!

Paralympian opens Milton Keynes primary school's summer fair Paralympian, Maisie Summers-Newton, visited Milton Keynes last week to open Monkston Primary School’s summer fair.
We had an absolutely fantastic school fair last week and were so honoured that Maisie Summers-Newton came along to give our children an inspirational talk and opened our Paralympic themed fair for this year. A huge thank you to our Friends of Monkston committee for all of their hard work and organising, along with year 5 (and Mrs Beale) for their great games and plant stalls!
Future year 6 Oakgrove students had a great morning recently really challenging themselves with some fun maths problems preparing themselves for what’s to come! Oakgrove School
A huge well done to all Monkston pupils for fantastic Sports Days last week. The weather was perfect and everyone had tremendous fun taking part in the different events. Thank you to all friends and families who came along to cheer our pupils on!
Monkston ended an entertaining season with a defeat to Priory Rise and a win against Tickford Park. Both goalies were excellent, along with some great tackles, some incredible slalom runs with the ball and the biggest cheer coming when a closing down and pass led to a first goal for someone! The Captain was very pleased with her team’s efforts - as we all are!
Monkston athletics team enjoyed a glorious afternoon of sport at Stantonbury on Friday. There were fantastic performances from children across all year groups in Key Stage 2. A special mention, however, has to go to the girls' team with an impressive medal against a largely Y6 field in 600m, a team medal for the relay and two double-medal winners with silver and gold in their respective individual events too. A great day!
Year 3 had fun making their own bread AND their very own butter to spread on it during their Design Technology sessions. What an achievement! 🤩🍞🧈
Well done to Monkston students for their Summer Music Concert at the start of the month. Everyone did superbly well, and we even have our own harpist in the making! 🎵🎵🎵
KS1 are really loving their new playground equipment! Another huge thank you to all KS1 families and friends who donated towards their Monkston Mile to fund this. Thank you!
With so many inexperienced players, the Y3/4 girls got off to a super start in their league. Close matches resulted in 2 wins and a defeat. We had a solid goalie, our midfielders working tirelessly and a string of super tackles came from our defenders, with our Captain being key goal scorer. Well played! ⚽️⚽️⚽️
A huge thank you to all friends and families who supported and encouraged their child, as well as donated, during our Monkston Mile events. Both raised over £1,000 each! KS1 are already enjoying their new playground equipment, and the Eco Council will be discussing with KS2 what equipment would be great for their playground next. Thank you all so, so much; we could not have done it without you!
Please spread the word to any friends or family who would be interested in a tour and chat with Mrs Williams for a place starting in Reception at our fantastic school this September. Thank you!
Well done Key Stage 2 for completing the Monkston Mile event this week to raise money for new playground equipment. The Gateway app is now open for sponsorship contributions, thank you! 🏃♀️🏃🏾
What a fab last day! And what a fab year group! Staff would love to thank each and everyone one for their resilience, determination and smiles this week; it was a pleasure! ❤️
