Hi Everyone! Hope you are all having a lovely week so far! ๐ŸŽถ๐Ÿ˜

Todays top tip is: Practise makes perfect!

Often we get into a habit of singing or playing music how we think it goes, and forget to check that we are right! When I was at school my music teacher used to get us to repeat challenging parts in music, correctly, and 5 times in a row before we moved on! This made sure we made a new habit of singing it correctly :)

Happy Singing!
Bex xx

Top Tip: Although we often shy away from listening to ourselves back when we sing, it is actually one of the best ways to improve! By listening to yourself back you can really appreciate where you can apply changes and what you want to do differently moving forwards. You can also hear how great you sound in other places! If you continue to record yourself singing, you will have documented proof of your growth as a singer ๐Ÿ˜

I have just updated my FAQ's! I hope they help answer any questions you may have :)

Who are you?
My name is Rebecca (Bex) Badham, and I am a recent graduate from Newcastle University, where I gained a BA Hons in Music. I am a classically trained singer with lots of performance experience in a range of classical, opera, musical theatre, pop, soul and jazz styles.

Where are you?
I am based in Cranfield, Bedfordshire where I have a singing space which is a great place to feel comfortable and enjoy learning to sing! I am also able to travel locally to teach on request.

Do you teach people of all ages?
Absolutely!

Do you teach beginners?
Yes of course! Everyone starts somewhere. Besides, you will find that no one is a total beginner- you have been singing your whole life!

Do you offer an initial consultation?
Yes. Whatever your singing ambitions be, a singing teacher is very personal, and requires respect, trust and understanding between the student and teacher, I offer every new student and initial free consultation where we can get to know one another, have a short warm up and sing, and talk about your ambitions-whatever they be I am here to help you on your journey! If students under the age of 18 would like a parent or guardian present, that is absolutely fine!

What should I bring?
Yourself, enthusiasm and a love of singing! If you have music you would like to learn, please feel free to bring it along. Lots of ideas on what you hope to achieve are welcome too!

What do you teach?
I teach classical, musical theatre, pop and some jazz/ soul styles- or a combination of the above! As well as covering singing technique, lessons can cover long or short term topics such as: grade exams, audition material, music theory, performance technique and harmony. We will venture in the direction you choose (with my advice of course!).

Will I be in a group or by myself?
All tuition will be one-to-one as we can direct your learning specifically towards your goals, interests and attributes! However, in some cases where group lessons are necessary, for example; a group or duet preparing for a performance, this can be arranged!

Do I need to be able to read music?
No previous musical knowledge is required to start singing!

Can you teach people to read music?
Absolutely! You do not need to read music to learn to sing. However, if you would like to learn, it is a valuable skill to have. Throughout your singing lessons we can cover basic music theory and sight reading which will progress as you do. I am also able to teach music theory separately to a more advanced level if you are interested, or require music theory grades to take high grade classical music exams.

Do I need to perform in public?
No, you decide what you want to do. I would never put you in a position where you may be uncomfortable or feel unprepared. I can teach/ give advice on performance techniques, and if you would like to perform, I'm sure we can find lots of exciting opportunities for you!

Do you do gift vouchers?
Yes. Please contact me for more information. They are perfect gifts for Christmas, birthdays, or special treats throughout the year!

How can you contact me?
I try my best to answer messages on Facebook within the hour. Please contact me on whatever medium is best for you. You can message me privately through this page, drop me an email @ [email protected], or contact me via my mobile: 07803 147339
