🌍🦋 Celebrating Sir David Attenborough’s 100th Birthday! 🦁🌿

Today we are celebrating the wonderful life and work of Sir David Attenborough, who turns 100 years old today! 🎉

For many years, Sir David has helped children and grown-ups learn about our amazing planet, from the deepest oceans to the tallest mountains. Through his programmes, he has taught us how important it is to care for animals, plants, and the world around us. 🌎💚

Today the children will be:
🪴 Exploring nature in our outdoor area
🐛 Learning about different animals and habitats
🎨 Creating wildlife-inspired creations
📚 Sharing stories about our planet and how we can help protect it

Happy 100th Birthday, Sir David Attenborough -thank you for inspiring us all to love and protect our beautiful world! 🌍✨

Earth Day 2026 🌍

Earth Day provides a valuable opportunity to support children’s learning across the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) in a meaningful, hands-on way. Through activities such as exploring natural materials, and simple recycling tasks, children develop their understanding of the world around them.

These experiences link closely to Understanding the World, as children observe changes in nature and begin to recognise how to care for the environment. They also support Communication and Language through discussions about what they see and do, and Physical Development through activities like digging, sorting, and creating with recycled materials.

By engaging in Earth Day activities, children not only build key developmental skills but also begin to develop a sense of responsibility and respect for the natural world.

Our preschool children have had a magical time creating their very own potions today! 🧪✨ From mixing colours to choosing their special “ingredients,” the activity was full of imagination, curiosity, and lots of excitement.

While it looked like pure fun, there was plenty of learning happening too! The children explored early maths skills by counting spoonful's, measuring liquids, comparing quantities (full/empty, more/less), and even noticing patterns. These hands-on experiences help build a strong foundation for problem-solving and number awareness.

Our children have had a fantastic time celebrating Red Nose Day!

They’ve been getting creative by designing and making their very own red noses, and have also enjoyed decorating some delicious red nose biscuits.

Red Nose Day is all about coming together to have fun and raise money to support people facing poverty and hardship across the UK and around the world ❤️

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! 🍀

Today is a very special day called St. Patrick’s Day! People all around the world celebrate by having fun and learning about Irish traditions.

Green is an important colour on this day. It reminds us of grass, trees, and shamrocks. A shamrock is a small plant with three leaves. Long ago, people used it to teach about nature and important ideas.

Some people like to talk about leprechauns—tiny, magical characters who love gold and hide it at the end of the rainbow! 🌈 Can you imagine finding a pot of gold?

Today, the children are creating their very own lucky gold crafts! They are using shiny materials to make pots of gold, coins, and beautiful rainbow pictures. This helps them use their imagination and creativity while having lots of fun.

Let’s celebrate by being happy, kind, and creative. Maybe you can draw your own rainbow or make a lucky shamrock!

Ahoy, mateys! 🏴‍☠️

Today we are celebrating World Book Day! The children and team have all dressed up as pirates, ready to sail away on a sea of stories. ⚓📚

Our little pirates will be exploring lots of pirate books, going on treasure hunts, sharing stories, and enjoying plenty of fun pirate activities throughout the day. There has already been lots of laughter, imagination, and adventurous storytelling!

As every good pirate knows:
“A pirate’s life is the best life for reading adventures!” 🏴‍☠️

Thank you to all our amazing children and team for making today such a fun, creative celebration of reading. Keep sailing through those stories, little pirates!

Pirate Adventures Await! 📚🏴‍☠️

Our little pirates have been very busy preparing for World Book Day by creating their very own pirate treasure maps! 🗺️ They’ve used their imaginations to design islands, mark hidden treasure, and plan exciting adventures - we can’t wait for you to see them!

We are excited to remind you that we will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 5th March here at nursery.

This year’s theme is Pirates, and we would love for all the children to come dressed as pirates for the day. Get ready for a day full of stories, adventures, and plenty of pirate fun! 🏴‍☠️✨

Please note that we kindly ask that no play swords or toy weapons are brought into the nursery.

We will also be providing pirate masks and eye patches for the children, so please don’t feel obliged to go out and buy a costume - a simple outfit or homemade accessories are absolutely perfect.

We are really looking forward to a pirate-filled day with the children! ☠️🦜
