Crack. Hatch. Grow. The Montessori Way.

Today marks Day One of incubation at Limes Montessori — and with it, a powerful lesson in the Cycle of Life. As eggs rest gently in the incubator, children begin to observe the quiet miracle of growth, patience, and nature’s timing.

This is more than science — it’s Montessori in motion.
Hands-on. Child-led. Rooted in reality.

As the chick prepares to hatch, your child learns about care, responsibility, and the rhythms of life — all through quiet observation and natural curiosity.

Hands-On Learning with the Large Moveable Alphabet

Kaif had a fantastic time exploring the Large Moveable Alphabet. Before jumping into word-building, we took a mindful step in between—using the Marula Tree Alphabet Mat to practice matching letters and reinforcing their sequence. This hands-on activity gave Kaif a structured yet playful way to recognize letters, understand their order, and build confidence before working with the loose alphabet pieces.

Once he feels ready, he will move on to arranging the Moveable Alphabet, forming simple words and experimenting with letter

Exploring Sandpaper Letters at Limes Montessori Home Ed Session

Today, our younger learners at Limes Montessori Home Ed had a wonderful time exploring the Sandpaper Letters, one of Maria Montessori’s most iconic learning materials. With their little fingers tracing each textured letter, they engaged in a multi-sensory experience that helps build the foundation for reading and writing.

The joy on their faces as they discovered the shapes and sounds of letters was truly inspiring. Through touch, sight, and sound, they not only learned but deeply connected with the alphabet in a way that felt natural and exciting. It’s amazing to see how such a simple yet powerful tool can spark curiosity and confidence in early literacy!

We can’t wait to continue this journey with them.

✨ Reflecting on an Inspiring Montessori Workshop ✨

I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to have attended the ARU Montessori Conference 2024, where Aruna Dahyal delivered a thought-provoking talk on Nature and Montessori. As a Montessori practitioner with nine years of experience, this event was a profound reminder that learning is an ongoing journey, and embracing the insights of others is vital in our field.

A significant takeaway was the exploration of Nature Deficit Disorder, a term coined by Richard Louv in his 2005 book, Last Child in the Woods. Louv suggests that our increasing disconnection from nature can negatively impact attention, mood, and overall well-being—a concept that resonates deeply with Montessori philosophy. This underscores the importance of outdoor learning, hands-on experiences, and nurturing a child’s innate curiosity.

The conference also prompted reflection on our roles as educators in creating meaningful, nature-rich experiences that support holistic development. Dr. Maria Montessori emphasized that the preparation of the teacher involves more than just acquiring knowledge; it requires self-examination and personal growth. She believed that teachers must engage in continuous self-reflection to effectively guide and support each child’s development.

Engaging in self-reflection allows us to become more attuned to our students’ needs, fostering an environment where both educators and students thrive. By embracing this role as self-reflective and constantly evolving practitioners, we can better honor the rhythm of each child and keep nature at the heart of education.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to this incredible event! Let’s continue to learn, grow, and share ideas that enrich our practice and our students’ experiences.

“Primitive reflexes are the body’s natural starting point for movement and development. But if they don’t integrate on time, they can interfere with coordination, balance, and even learning! Watch this video to understand why tidying them away is key to smooth body collaboration. ”
