🍽️ More families may now be eligible for Free School Meals

From September 2026, all households receiving Universal Credit can apply for Free School Meals, regardless of their income.

The previous earnings threshold has been removed, meaning more working families receiving Universal Credit may now qualify for support.

📌 Important: Free School Meals are not awarded automatically — families must apply.

Applying could help with the cost of school meals and may also unlock additional support for families, while helping schools access additional funding.

💻 Applications can be completed online and usually take just a few minutes.

The walkers have made it all the way to Kent’s Bank station today which has awarded them with a day off tomorrow. Their plan is to walk to Arnside on Friday and then set off on Saturday at around 11am from Arnside front heading to Silverdale and ending at the Silverdale Hotel at 2.30pm to raise a glass and celebrate this incredible achievement. If anyone wants to join Hollie and the children please do message Hollie. Keep going you are so close.

Charlie, Julianna and Hollie are making great progress on their fundraising walk, they are actually ahead of schedule and will be setting off from Whitehaven today. Hollie gave the children a short rest and powered on solo, but they are all ready to set off shortly. Keep going, you are doing brilliantly. 🚶🚶‍♀️

Julianna and Charlie are starting their fundraising walk tomorrow. Their itinerary is on the following post. It is subject to change depending on how they get on each day. It is with great sadness that their Auntie Grace passed away earlier this week, but they are determined to complete their walk and continue with their fundraising. Charlie and Julianna, along with their mum, Hollie, will be taking on the Cumbria Coastal Way from 15th August to raise money for a very close friend and much-loved auntie who has sadly been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

This is an incredible challenge, and every donation, no matter how big or small, will help support Grace and her husband Ben. It will also give Charlie and Julianna a huge boost knowing so many people are cheering them on along the way.

We would really appreciate the donation of any clean and empty jam jars with lids. It’s jam making season again and last year’s sold very well. Please ask family, friends and neighbours to save them.
