Here's my latest fun thing - needle felted gnomes/tomtes. They're quite small, but perfect to trim up a Christmas present.

Great news! Glassy Birds Studio in Albert Mill - Arts, Crafts & Leisure are running a hat making course on 24th April! I'm ridiculously excited!!
I'm so looking forward to it - anyone like to join me?! Here are some pics although I don't know exactly which version we'll be doing.

Bunting Bundles. This pre- printed design has Christmas images - nutcracker, sugar plum fairy - on one side and plain but bright fabrics on the other side. Perfect for nurseries or playrooms, Christmas or all year.

Continuing the faux fur makes. I wanted to make a Scandi wreath, using log slices and natural materials. To bring in a feeling of hygge, I wrapped part of the wire base with some of the fur fabric used previously. I then added pine cones, cinnamon sticks and fake berries and some wooden stag blanks.

Another make using one of the fur fabrics from Ambassador Textiles . Gorgeous faux fur - it has a really long pile so I extended the lining to cover the raw edge at the 'top' of the pile. (The bottom raw edge is hidden nicely with the pile.)
The pompoms are made with a small circle of fabric - about 6.5cm. As the pile is so long, you don't need a large circle.
This fabric gives great value in terms of usage. Later posts will show more using this fur.

Our WI had their cookery and craft mini-show this evening. I didn't do any baking but I did enter the craft competition. I was chuffed to bits to win the Christmas Stocking class, and totally disbelieving to win the painting class!
I loved doing the stocking - patchwork and light quilting on the front with diamond quilting on the reverse. The little pocket is embroidered, and tucked into it is a letter to Santa and a little Christmas mouse.
As some of you know, I've been dabbling in bits of watercolour painting, so I had a bash at a winter robin. Enjoyable to do, but you should see the first attempts 😳. Maybe this'll encourage me to do more.

I've used the pink faux fur for those two makes. The pompom on the hat is a very simple make, a circle of fabric, running stitch round the edge and pull it up. It's now a somewhat deflated pompom shape. Stuff it with scraps/ toy stuffing and pull the thread tight. Stitch across the raw edges and hey presto - that's it! Such tactile faux fur - perfect for pompoms on a hat .... On a bag ... on the ends of a scarf. Gorgeous.

The second one is an illuminated glass bottle - I had to drink the gin it contained to use the bottle! A strip of the fur, a ribbon decorated with tiny paper roses, and a glitzy ribbon around the bottle neck. Fabulous for a baby girls christening .... A girly sleepover ... A hen- party meal ... A baby shower.
It's so pretty and so simple - I love it!
