WELL THAT'S A WRAP !
Today we have said goodbye to the class of 2026 as they leave us ready to start their jouney at primary school. We could not be more proud of them and we all hope that we have given them the best start for their learning journey. Your children are all a credit to you and we couldn't wish for better parents who have given us the support and put their trust in us to teach their little ones.
Thank you for all our gifts and kind words, they are not expected but so appreciated and mean a lot to us all, we have been truly spoilt.
Our Beckie starts her maternity leave today too. We wish her the very best of luck and hope she has a well deserved rest before baby arrives. Her dedication, care and hard work is unparalleled and she will be missed greatly. She will be back in May next year ###

Week Beginning 6.7.26
This week we have been doing lots of counting , using the pom poms to develop colour recognition. The children then had to match the pom poms to the colours on the cups whilst counting how many. The older children were then asked to group by colour and size and determine how many they would have if they added more or took some away. To celebrate national Chocolate Day we made Chocolate cup cakes enabling the children to develop their fine motor skills, number recognition alongside weights and measurement. It also develops language as the children are learning new vocabulary. The children follow instructions and watch how the ingredients change plus sequencing. They then made chocolate lollipops, investigating fusion (changes from a solid to a liquid). The children scooped the liquid chocolate onto baking parchment and then watched it change back into a solid after being chilled. Foam shaped diggers enabled the children to develop scissor skills and scissor control as they attempted to cut out a digger shape from foam. The younger children are able to use the loop scissors which are easier to squeeze to open and close as they do not require a finger hole. These scissors are ideal as they develop confidence ready for 2 finger scissors. Mark making encourages the children to make marks using pens and pencils, developing pincer and grasp grips. Mark making refers to making scribbles, dots, patterns and letters which also help the children to develop letter sounds and phonic knowledge. Potato printing boosts fine motor skills, sensory development and colour recognition. The children were able to talk about shapes, colours and textures developing new language such as bigger, smooth, round, soft. Gripping the potato develops hand eye coordination and printing patterns enables mathematical understanding such as repeat patterns, sorting by size. We have had a trip to Newton Court nursing home where the children had a picnic with the residents. They were able to play with the musical instruments They were able to play hook a hoop and darts too. Integrating with the community builds social skills and empathy and gives them a sense of belonging. We have had some yummy ice lollies and celebrated Bonnie’s birthday too.
