Meet Nicci! 👋

As Operations Director, Nicci oversees the running of the nursery - the busy queen bee of Zizus!

She directs all the business side of the daycare and will sometimes be seen around Pavilion on various important missions - occasionally with Madi, her trained therapy dog, following closely behind!

In addition to her busy schedule at Zizus, Nicci does a lot of volunteer work for communities across Teesside - from serving as a First Responder for Yorkshire Ambulance Service to raising funds for charity through events like her recent sponsored hike for the Headlight Project, a charity working to reduce deaths by su***de across our region.

We’re so lucky to have someone like Nicci as Operations Director - watch this space for introductions to the rest of our brilliant team at Zizus!

What a journey it's been! 🎉

There have been so many milestones over the past 10 years - it's hard to know where to even begin! So for the anniversary let's start at the most recent and go backwards 📅

One big achievement at the start of this year was the opening of Zizus third nursery, Zizus Day Care at Pavilion - we couldn't miss that out!

By stepping in during the closure of the previous nursery, our team were able to keep Pavilion open and supporting local families, preserving a vital service for the community 👶

With experienced existing staff and fresh Zizus ideas, the nursery opened on 5th January 2026, marking a new chapter for childcare in North Ormesby! 🎉

Since Zizus Day Care first opened 10 years ago, it has always been our goal to provide the high-quality early years education children deserve to as many families as possible in Middlesbrough and it has been unbelievable to see the growth that has led to across our town 💙

Do you know the history of Zizus? 🦓

Our story started in September 2016 with the opening of the first Zizus Day Care & Learning Centre in Middlesbrough town centre. 👶

Our founder Maaz Rahman wanted to create a new kind of nursery which provided flexible childcare that fitted around parents needs while giving children a brighter way to learn & play. 🙌

Zizus Day Care flourished and eventually outgrew its original home, relocating in 2022 to our beautiful leafy Linthorpe nursery. And Zizus kept on growing still, leading to us expanding in 2025 to our second nursery in Zizus Day Care at The Hub - Grove Hill! 🏡

Pavilion is the latest addition to the Zizus family, acquired this year to keep it open & serving the local community when it was about to be closed. With wonderful local families and a brilliant experienced childcare team, we’re thrilled to have started a new chapter of the Zizus story here in North Ormesby! 🥳

PS. This year also marks the 10 year anniversary of Zizus Day Care, with celebrations currently being planned for September - watch this space! 👀

The nursery team recently transformed a corner of the playground into a little garden space! 🤩🌿

Featuring woodchip mulch for natural earthy flooring (very good for putting the diggers to work!) and a variety of plants including our nursery strawberries which we’re excited to see are coming along nicely! 🚜🍓

What do you think we should plant next? 🌱
