As part of our transition activities, each teacher in school chose a hat to inspire a series of lessons. Mrs Nelson selected a beekeeper's hat, which sparked an exciting learning experience for our new Year 6 classes.

On the second day of transition, the children welcomed Kate from the Cleveland Beekeepers Association. They explored the fascinating world of bees by examining a bee colony, learning about the different jobs carried out within the hive and tasting a selection of delicious local honeys. The children were curious and engaged throughout the session, asking thoughtful and insightful questions that reflected their enthusiasm for learning.

This week, we celebrated our 6th annual Trust Book Awards with a whole-school assembly, celebrating the joy of reading and the fantastic books our children have enjoyed this year.

Children across our academies read, reviewed and voted for their favourite books from our Picture Book and Chapter Book shortlists, exploring themes including friendship, resilience, kindness, bravery and imagination.
Reading is at the heart of everything we do, and the book awards are a wonderful way to inspire a lifelong love of books while introducing children to exciting new authors and stories.

Congratulations to this year's winners:

Picture Book: I love books by Maria Ilustrajo
Chapter Book: I Am Rebel by Ross Montgomery

A huge well done to all of our readers—we're already looking forward to next year's TVED Book Awards!
