What a lovely week of exploring and learning with our babies! 💛

The babies enjoyed exploring autumn-themed animals, including an exciting 🦉 owl tuff tray and 🐿️ squirrel tuff tray, where they used their senses to investigate different textures, colours and natural autumn materials.

🚜🐄 We also enjoyed a farm-themed tuff tray, exploring the animals and developing our imagination through sensory and small-world play.

🥕🥔 Vegetable stamping was another favourite! The babies had lots of fun using different vegetables to create colourful prints, exploring patterns and getting a little messy along the way. 🎨

🦏💚 We also celebrated National Rhino Day, learning about these amazing animals through sensory exploration, pictures and play.

It has been a busy week full of sensory experiences, creativity, discovery and lots of fun! 🌈✨

This Week in Cheviot Baby explorers🌟
we have been busy exploring, learning and having lots of fun through a range of activities.🎨
We have been exploring sensory toys and investigating different textures, shapes and sounds. We have also been introducing new friends to the room and celebrating one of our friends’ 1st birthday, helping to build relationships🎂
We enjoyed looking at our reflections in the mirror, encouraging children to recognise themselves and explore their facial expressions. 🪞We also made play dough birds, which supported our fine motor skills as we rolled, squeezed and shaped the play dough using our hands and fingers.🐣
We practised mark making with chalk, developing hand control and early writing skills. ✏️We also used cars and dinosaurs to create foil paintings, followed by washing the cars and dinosaurs. These activities encouraged children to explore cause and effect while developing their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills.🦖🚙
We created an animal lake where the children could wash and clean the animals. This encouraged imaginative play and supported language development as we talked about the animals and what they were doing.🦁🐶
In the garden, we made pictures and enjoyed painting with autumn colours, exploring the changes we see around us. We also watched bubbles blowing in the wind, encouraging children to observe movement and develop their curiosity about the world around them.🍂🫧
We played noughts and crosses, turning them into peekaboo holes and hats, which encouraged creativity and imagination. We have also enjoyed reading lots of stories, supporting communication, listening and attention skills.📚
The children have been developing their problem-solving skills through jigsaws and learning how to use musical instruments, exploring different sounds and rhythms.🥁
We have also been racing trains around the track, stacking blocks and using our imaginations to turn silver blocks into phones. These activities encouraged gross and fine motor development, coordination, problem solving and imaginative play. 🧱🚂☎️Overall, it has been a lovely week full of exploring, creating, communicating and learning through play. 🌈lots more fun next week 🐷🐷

🍁 We’ve had a busy and exciting week filled with autumn-inspired fun and lots of opportunities to explore! 🍁
Our little ones have enjoyed making the most of the outdoors, getting creative and discovering lots of new sensory experiences. 🌟
🎨 We got creative with sensory painting activities, exploring different textures, colours and ways to make marks.
🍂 One of our favourite activities was our autumn leaf hand painting! The children used their hands to create colourful leaf-inspired prints, getting wonderfully messy while developing their creativity and sensory awareness. 🖐️🎨
💧 We also explored our autumn sensory bags, filled with leaves, grass, glitter and water. The children loved squishing, squeezing and moving the different materials around, encouraging curiosity and discovery while supporting their sensory development.
It’s been a wonderful week of messy play, outdoor adventures, creativity and sensory exploration! 💕🍁

🌈🐷 What a Wonderful Week in Our Preschool Room! 🐷🌈

We’ve had another fun-filled week in preschool, packed with creativity, curiosity, teamwork and, of course, plenty of giggles along the way! 💕We’ve been busy exploring our emotions and self-regulation with our very hungry Cookie Monster! 🍪 The children talked about different feelings, what emotions can look and feel like, and explored ways we can help ourselves when our feelings become a little BIG. Cookie Monster was certainly kept busy and well fed! Things then got wonderfully messy as we experimented with colour mixing! 🎨 We rolled, splatted and spread our paint, making predictions and guessing which colours would appear. The excitement when two colours mixed together was definitely a highlight! Our little scientists also enjoyed some potion making 🧪, working together to create their magical mixtures. This was a fantastic opportunity to practise taking turns, sharing resources, listening to our friends and working as a team — although we’re still not quite sure what magical spells were being brewed! 🪄😉

We also put our problem-solving hats on with our ‘Fix the Road’ activity! 🚧 The children worked together to figure out what needed fixing, using their imagination and teamwork skills to get everything back in working order. We then continued our road adventures with our Alphabet Road, recognising and identifying letters as we travelled along, helping to build those all-important early literacy skills. 🔤🚗

As part of National Recycling Week, we’ve also been thinking about how we can look after our wonderful planet. 🌍♻️ Using recycled materials, the children worked together to create their own models, organising and sorting resources into groups and chatting about ways we can reuse, recycle and help our environment. It was wonderful to see their imaginations turn everyday items into something completely new! 📦✨And, of course, we’ve been welcoming our new friends into the preschool room and helping them settle into our routines. 🥰 Our children have been fantastic role models, showing them our toothbrushing routine and talking about why brushing our teeth is so important. 🪥🦷

It’s been a week full of messy hands, busy minds, big feelings, creative ideas and lots of teamwork — exactly how we like it in preschool! 💕🐷✨ We can’t wait to see what next week brings! 🌟

This week in preschool Cheviot , we’ve been learning all about the new season and incorporating all our areas of development !
We started practicing and refining our fine motors skills; using pincers to collect autumnal items using our pincer grip! We also practiced tracing patterns.
We’ve been identifying our names and matching them to our autumnal letter leaves, this also allowed for matching letter of upper and lower case.
We had a hedgehog day! We were able to link this to unique characteristics something we explored last week when we did “all about me” alongside creating our own hedgehogs with play dough and natural autumn materials.
We were changing our pillow cases to fit the new season so some of the children helped to put the new pillow cases on!
We finished the week by creating a cafe and seating area by making our own autumnal cups of teas and selling them! The children took great interest in the phones this week and calling one another so this was a great way to incorporate this! Well done preschool amazing learning and moments to take from this week

This week in Cheviot Tweenies we have been so busy! We have began planting in our new garden area 🏡🪴👨‍🌾 we planted seeds to grow our own vegetables as well as some lovely smelling plants in our own sensory garden🪻we talked about how the plants felt, what they smelt like and how to look after them. We also enjoyed our new outdoor resources to catch and look after different bugs 🕷️

We have had many exciting activity themes this week too! We started the week exploring transport 🚘🚙 to extend this, we made a bus out of the chairs in our room! We used the tools to repair the bus and the sponges and water to wash the bus 🧽 we then went outside and used the plastic crates as a train! Later in the week, we threw a birthday party of Tiger! We read ‘The Tiger Who Came To Tea’ then used the playdough to make a birthday cake and used the cones as party hats 🥳
