Today’s antics… PLAYING IN THE RAIN! 🐷🌧️

There’s something rather magical about putting on our raincoats and wellies and heading outside to explore the world around us! 💦 With the seasons changing, what better way to enhance our learning than to experience the weather first-hand? Our little ones at wolviston piglets had SO much fun splashing in puddles, filling up buckets and using scoops to collect the rainwater. ☔️🪣 We talked about why it’s important to wear our coats and wellies when the weather is wet, and of course, there were plenty of giggles, splashes and very muddy little boots! 😂🥾

Outdoor play gives children wonderful opportunities to build curiosity, communication skills, confidence and their understanding of the world around them. Even just 10 minutes of outdoor exploration every day can create meaningful learning experiences for your little ones! 💙

This week at piglets cheviot we’ve had lots of fun with paints, water play and adventures into the local community! As on Wednesday Kelly drove over a nail, a lovely man named derek came out to fix her wheel, we all went and watched him, he told us how to take the wheel off using a wheel nut, he then showed us how to repair the tyre,
We then walked to to the town centre to get some shopping, whilst shopping we spotted a famous footballer and got taken (messi in savers)
Our next visit was to the library where we read some stories and drew some pictures ! The children have loved experiencing new things and helping out with re organising the cupboard and helping get snack! It’s been lovely seeing the older ones taking care of the younger children. 🐷🐷

What a wonderful week we’ve had here at Wolviston Piglets! 🌞🩵

We’ve been making the most of the sunny weather with lots of outdoor water play, where the children splashed, poured, measured and explored together. It encouraged teamwork, early mathematical thinking and plenty of language as the children chatted about what they were discovering. “Pour” and “SPLASH!” were our top favourites! There were smiles, giggles and lots of water fights ☺️

Our little artists have also been getting wonderfully creative by painting on cling film. Watching the colours swirl, mix and spread across the transparent surface was simply magical! This open-ended activity encouraged the children to experiment, express themselves freely and strengthen the muscles in their hands, helping to develop the fine motor skills.

It was Construction Day in the preschool room, and what an incredible team of builders we have! The children worked together to carefully build tall towers and exciting structures, using their fantastic fine motor skills to balance and position different materials. To make our buildings extra sturdy, we even used playdough as cement, pressing and moulding it to create strong foundations before adding the next layer of blocks. Along the way, the children became brilliant problem-solvers, learning that sometimes buildings wobble, sometimes they tumble—but with just a little teamwork, they can always build them back even bigger and better!

Our youngest Piglets have been on some very exciting little adventures this week! 🚀✨we have loved venturing out into the community with trips to our local library and the play park. Every outing is a wonderful opportunity to discover new sights and experiences while building confidence and enjoying the world around us. This week’s magical theme was Space, and what a journey we had! We counted together by clapping our hands, waving our arms and joining in with lots of songs before blasting off on an imaginary adventure to a sparkling galaxy filled with twinkling lights, shooting stars and… lots and lots of bubbles! The children’s faces lit up with wonder as they reached, popped and chased the floating bubbles through the air, creating plenty of giggles along the way. Our adventure continued at the library, where we snuggled up together to enjoy a lovely space-themed story. The children were fantastic at pointing to the bright stars, moon and planets in the book, eagerly sharing their excitement with everyone around them.

It’s been another week full of laughter, creativity and hands-on learning. We can’t wait to see what adventures next week will bring! 🐷🐷

This week at piglets Cheviot we have had lots of fun mixing with our piglet friends!
We started the week making lemonade, squeezing the lemon and pouring making our friends lemonade, we also used the lemons in paint to create different marks! The children really enjoyed this activity alongside role play within the kitchen so we made cups of tea , using tea bags and looking at how the water changed with the teabag! We had a lovely spa morning having a little relax after a busy week , we had a lily foot spa and rose petal facials. We even had a little adventure into the local community as we took a trip to billingham town centre to do some shopping, the older children enjoyed playing on the floor games too and identifying the numbers they had seen! To finish our week we have made our own brand Piglet perfume! Using the remaining orange and lemons. The scent was beautiful and we all smell wonderful! Lots more Summer time fun next week! 🐷🐷

To finish the term in Cheviot preschool we explored Dells trip to South Africa. The children looked through Dells scrap books their favourite parts were boulders beach where the penguins were , the safari and mama Africa; a night of cultural food and face painting.
We had a penguin beach tuff tray , a small world safari and we did face paintings.
We were able to talk about penguins living in different environments and how we live in different environments to others. We talked about and explored the differences of animals expanding our vocabulary. We were also able to explore the culture through face painting as a long time ago people in Africa would paint their faces with different patterns to identify where they were from!
The children really enjoyed looking back at Dells trip as it’s something we talk about regularly and it was great to see the children exploring differences. 🐷🐷
