🌈 A Colour Monster Week at Nature Time! 🌈

We’ve had such a lovely and colourful week exploring the wonderful world of The Colour Monster! 📚✨

Throughout the week, we have been talking about our different emotions and learning that it’s okay to feel lots of different feelings. We explored what each colour represents and had lots of opportunities to talk about colours and emotions through play, stories and creative activities. 🌈

🫧 Our shaving foam Colour Monsters were a big hit! We explored a wonderful sensory activity using shaving foam and paint to create our very own colourful monsters. The children used paintbrushes to spread, swirl and mix the shaving foam, developing their fine motor skills, hand control and coordination while enjoying the different textures.

🎨 We also created our own melted Colour Monsters using gloop and lots of different tools. The children had lots of fun scooping, pouring, mixing and transferring the gloop, exploring how it moved and what happened when different colours came together. This supported their fine motor development, hand-eye coordination, concentration and control, while providing lots of exciting sensory exploration. 🥄🫗

😊 We also got creative making our own emotion faces using pens and play dough! The children used the play dough to create different facial features and used pens to add their own details. We talked about the different emotions we could show and how our faces can change depending on how we are feeling. This encouraged creativity while supporting our fine motor skills and emotional understanding. 💕

📚 We enjoyed lots of Colour Monster story times, encouraging the children to listen, join in and recognise the different colours and emotions throughout the story.

🌈 We also enjoyed colour-matching activities, sorting and matching the different colours to their corresponding Colour Monster emotions, helping the children make connections between colours and feelings.

🎶 Through songs, movement, imaginative play and sensory experiences, we have encouraged the children to express themselves and explore their emotions in fun and meaningful ways.

It has been a wonderful week full of colour, creativity, sensory exploration, messy play and emotional learning! 🌈💚💛💙❤️

We are so proud of how the children have joined in, explored new experiences and shared their ideas throughout our Colour Monster adventures! 🥰✨

🌈🐘 What a fantastic September we’ve had so far at Nature Time Berwick Hills!🐘🌈

We have had so much fun welcoming our new children and helping them settle into nursery life, as well as welcoming back our wonderful children after the 6-week summer holidays. 💕 It has been lovely seeing everyone become familiar with their surroundings again, build new friendships and enjoy exploring their learning environment.

This month, we have been inspired by the wonderful Elmer the Elephant stories 🐘🌈. The children have thoroughly enjoyed exploring a variety of exciting provocations based around Elmer and his colourful adventures.

🎨 Colour recognition has been a big focus, with lots of fun, hands-on opportunities to explore and talk about different colours. We have been getting wonderfully messy with gloop discussing the colours we can see and what happens when we mix different colours together. 🌈

We have also been exploring a variety of textures and sensory experiences including:
✨ Shaving foam
✨ Gloop
✨ Water play
✨ Tissue paper
✨ And lots more!

Our children have been developing their fine motor skills through playful activities, including using tweezers to pick up pom-poms. We have been talking about big and small comparing sizes and developing our mathematical language along the way. 🔵🔴

We have also been getting creative and using a variety of tools and materials to make marks , encouraging the children to experiment, explore and express themselves in their own unique ways. 🖌️🖍️

It has been wonderful to see the children learning through play, developing their confidence, communication, curiosity and independence while having lots of fun along the way! 💕🌈

🦁🐍 Dear Zoo Stay & Play! 🐘🦒

What a wonderful time we had at our Dear Zoo Stay & Play! 📖❤️ The children loved listening to the Dear Zoo story while lots of amazing animals were brought out for them to see and explore.

They all did so well sitting beautifully, listening to the story and learning how to touch the animals very gently. 🥰 It was lovely to see their faces light up as they met all the different animals! 🐢🐰🦎

A big thank you to Animal Story Encounters for providing such a wonderful and memorable experience for our children. 🥰🦁 We absolutely loved having you visit us and learning lots of interesting facts about the different animals.

🐛🌿 What a fantastic Hungry Caterpillar Stay & Play! 🌿🐛

We had such a lovely time at our Very Hungry Caterpillar themed Stay & Play, with lots of exciting, hands-on activities for our children and families! 🍎🦋

🎨 We created colourful caterpillars using potato printing

🦋 We explored the life cycle of a caterpillar, looking at our very own real caterpillars that had now formed cocoons and talking about what was happening to them

🐞 We searched for minibeasts in our tuff tray, exploring what we could find and talking about the different creatures

🍚 We enjoyed filling and pouring our rice caterpillar, developing our fine motor skills while talking about all the different foods the Hungry Caterpillar ate

🌈 We had lots of fun mixing colours in shaving foam, creating a wonderful messy and sensory experience

📚 We also enjoyed talking about The Very Hungry Caterpillar and the different foods he ate throughout the story.

It was wonderful to welcome so many new families and children into our setting, and we loved seeing everyone getting involved, exploring, creating and having fun together! 💕
