This week we had a wonderful time celebrating both Earth Day and St George’s Day through a variety of engaging, hands-on experiences 🌍🌸
For Earth Day, the children explored creativity and nature by painting and drawing, as well as planting herbs. They thoroughly enjoyed the sensory experiences involved—feeling the soil, smelling the herbs, and observing changes as they planted. These activities supported their understanding of the world while encouraging expressive arts and design.
A truly magical moment for everyone was watching our butterflies emerge. The children showed great care and curiosity as they fed them slices of apple before releasing them into the warm sunshine. This experience sparked meaningful conversations about life cycles, growth, and caring for living things.
We also celebrated St George’s Day with a traditional English afternoon tea. The children used their fine motor skills to carefully decorate biscuits with the St George’s cross, demonstrating focus, coordination, and creativity.
Throughout the week, these experiences supported all 7 areas of learning and development: • Communication and Language – through discussions, storytelling, and shared experiences
• Physical Development – through planting, decorating, and sensory exploration
• Personal, Social and Emotional Development – by caring for the butterflies and working together
• Literacy – through conversations, mark-making, and themed activities
• Mathematics – through counting, patterns, and exploring shapes in designs
• Understanding the World – by learning about nature, life cycles, and cultural celebrations
• Expressive Arts and Design – through painting, drawing, and creative biscuit decorating
A fantastic week full of discovery, creativity, and meaningful learning! 🌱🦋

What a wonderful week we’ve had at Tracey’s Little Treasures! 🌸🐰
The children have been busy getting creative making beautiful keepsake Easter cards and designing their own Easter baskets. Our exciting Easter egg hunt brought lots of smiles, teamwork, and problem-solving as the children searched high and low! 🥚✨
We were also very lucky to have a special home visit from the Easter Bunny, which created lots of excitement and conversation. Our fun continued at our local playgroup and a trip to the library—where the Easter Bunny surprised us once again! 📚🐣
These experiences supported the 7 Areas of Learning and Development:
• Communication & Language – sharing ideas, listening, and engaging in conversations about our experiences
• Physical Development – exploring during the egg hunt and developing fine motor skills through crafts
• Personal, Social & Emotional Development – building confidence, friendships, and excitement through group activities
• Literacy – enjoying stories and mark-making in our Easter creations
• Mathematics – counting eggs, sorting, and exploring shapes and patterns
• Understanding the World – learning about Easter traditions and community experiences
• Expressive Arts & Design – creating cards, baskets, and imaginative play inspired by the Easter Bunny
A week full of fun, learning, and magical moments! 💛🐰

We’ve had such an exciting week at Tracey’s Little Treasures 🌱🦋

The children have loved watching our sunflower seeds grow into little seedlings, checking on them every day with such care and curiosity. Our new caterpillars have also arrived, and we can’t wait to watch them transform into beautiful butterflies!

We also enjoyed a lovely visit to our local library, where we learned all about Eid and Ramadan—such a wonderful way to explore different cultures and celebrations together.

To top it all off, we adopted Denis the Dinosaur, who has already inspired lots of imaginative play and storytelling!

So many moments of awe and wonder this week, supporting learning and development across all areas of the EYFS 💛

Wow, what a busy and exciting week we’ve had! ☀️
We made the most of the lovely sunshine and spent lots of time outdoors. The children planted their very own sunflowers 🌱 and are so excited to watch them grow!
In the garden, we developed our gross motor skills through active play and our fine motor skills through planting and exploring. We also enjoyed celebrating St Patrick’s Day with colouring and a little Irish dancing 💃 (thank you, Alexa! ❤️), supporting our Expressive Arts and Design.
The children were fascinated discovering ladybirds and used magnifying glasses to take a closer look, encouraging their curiosity and supporting Understanding the World.
We also practised brushing our teeth for Oral Hygiene Awareness Day, helping children learn about keeping their bodies healthy, which links to Physical Development and Personal, Social and Emotional Development.
What a wonderful week of learning and fun! 😊

Squirrel appreciation day! Had a gorgeous walk this morning looking for squirrels. Didn't actually spot any, but plenty of other creatures to ignite our interest, including a Robin (in the first picture). Spent the afternoon warm & cosy reading books & colouring in 🥰
