For personnel who need to enter electrical substations and switchrooms safely, The Faraday Centre’s S2 course provides essential knowledge, practical experience and an understanding of the hazards associated with working in the vicinity of high voltage electrical equipment.

This 1-day course is suitable for electrical and non-electrical personnel who require restricted authorisation to access areas containing HV apparatus while carrying out specific duties.

Take Your Protection Skills to the Next Level with P3

The Faraday Centre’s Practical Advanced Protection Training (P3) is available across September, October, November and December 2026, giving engineers and organisations several opportunities to complete this advanced, hands-on protection course before the end of the year.

• 9-13 November 2026
• 7-11 December 2026

P3 is designed for those looking to develop their practical understanding of the application and testing of electrical protection systems, combining classroom theory with extensive hands-on exercises and realistic protection scenarios.

Delegates work with a range of industry protection equipment and gain practical experience interrogating relay functions, fault analysis, line, transformer, generator and busbar protection.

The course also provides an excellent opportunity to work with equipment generously donated by SEL Technology—Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, including the impressive SEL-787, incorporated into challenging and realistic training scenarios. We also incorporate experience with Megger, OMICRON electronics, ABB, Kingsine Electric, Siemens equipment and more.

Whether you are looking to develop an individual engineer or strengthen protection capability across your team, P3 delivers advanced practical training with a strong focus on real-world application.

Periodic Inspection & Testing (I&T) 12-19 October 2026

Looking to develop or refresh your skills in electrical inspection, testing and condition reporting?

The Faraday Centre’s Periodic Inspection & Testing (I&T) course provides qualified electricians with both the theoretical knowledge and practical experience needed to carry out initial verification, commissioning, periodic inspection, testing and condition reporting of electrical installations.

The course follows BS 7671 and the industry-recognised IET Guidance Note 3, covering areas including:
🔹 Safe isolation of electrical circuits and installations
🔹 Initial verification and inspection
🔹 Testing and commissioning
🔹 Periodic inspection of existing installations
🔹 Interpretation of test results
🔹 Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) and supporting documentation
🔹 Practical inspection and testing techniques

Successful candidates will receive an LCL Awards Level 3 Award in the Initial Verification, Periodic Inspection Testing, Condition Reporting and Certification of Electrical Installations, alongside The Faraday Centre competence certificate.
