A big thank you to Fleet & Mobility Live for a fantastic day at the NEC Birmingham!

We were grateful for the opportunity to speak with so many exhibitors and attendees, learn more about the challenges facing the fleet and mobility sector, and explore where The Faraday Centre can support organisations with their electrical safety training requirements.

There was particularly strong relevance for our Low Voltage DC (LVDC) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) training, as electrification, EV infrastructure and energy storage continue to play an increasingly important role across the industry.

MAR4/OS4 – 2027 DATES NOW AVAILABLE

Working with High Voltage systems in the marine or offshore environment?

The Faraday Centre’s MAR4/OS4 - Safe Operation of Marine/Offshore High Voltage Power Systems (Full High Voltage Authorisation) course is designed for experienced marine and offshore personnel who may be required to undertake HV switching operations and issue safety documentation.

The 5-day course combines classroom theory with practical exercises and covers areas including:
⚡ Marine/offshore HV and LV power systems
⚡ High Voltage safety rules and operational procedures
⚡ HV switching operations up to and including 15kV
⚡ Electrical protection and fault diagnosis
⚡ Generator control and synchronisation
⚡ Earthing of marine systems
⚡ Arc blast hazards and electrical safety
⚡ Practical switching and safety-document exercises

2027 course dates:
🔹 8-12 February 2027
🔹 26-30 July 2027
🔹 8-12 November 2027

The course is particularly suited to personnel progressing towards responsibilities that may be recognised within company safety rules as Senior Authorised Person (SAP) duties.

A big thank you to the organisers of Manufacturing & Supply Chain Conference and Exhibition for a fantastic event at the SEC in Glasgow!

The Faraday Centre thoroughly enjoyed attending and taking the opportunity to connect with exhibitors, industry professionals and fellow attendees from across the manufacturing sector.

We had some excellent conversations throughout the event, discussing electrical safety, training, industry challenges and opportunities for future collaboration.

Events like this are a great way to strengthen existing relationships, make new connections and better understand the needs of organisations working across UK manufacturing.

2027 dates are now available for our HV Cable Termination & Jointing (TJ) course

The Faraday Centre Ltd is pleased to continue promoting our TJ – HV Cable Termination & Jointing course, delivered in partnership with Thorne & Derrick International.

This course provides a practical introduction to HV cable termination and jointing techniques, helping candidates develop a stronger understanding of HV cable construction, cable preparation, electrical stress, earthing, terminations, joints and common failure modes.

Working alongside Thorne & Derrick allows us to support candidates with training that connects practical electrical safety, technical understanding and industry-relevant cable jointing and termination equipment.

Designed for those responsible for the assessment, authorisation and ongoing competency of High Voltage personnel. The course covers duties, training, familiarisation, assessment, endorsement and safety auditing, helping candidates develop the skills required to assess personnel and issue suitable authority.

🔹 Access to Electrical Substations and Switchrooms (S2) | 21 December
Covering safe access to electrical substations and switchrooms, working safely in the vicinity of High Voltage equipment, safe access procedures and the receipt of appropriate safety documentation.

🔹 Overview of Electrical Power Systems Protection (P2) | 21–22 December
An introduction to the operation and application of electrical protection devices across different zones of a power system, combining classroom theory with practical exercises and demonstrations.

🔹 Appreciation of Generator Principles & Protection Theory (GEN) | 21–22 December
A two-day introduction to electrical generation, progressing from first principles through to modern brushless generators, synchronising and generator protection, supported by computerised simulation.

The Faraday Centre is recruiting a Full-Time HV/LV Electrical Lecturer to join our team in Teesside. And importantly, previous lecturing or teaching experience is NOT essential.

We are looking for someone with strong practical experience of High Voltage and Low Voltage electrical systems who is ready to turn years of industry knowledge into something that can benefit others.

If your background includes areas such as:
⚡ HV & LV switchgear
⚡ Isolation and switching
⚡ Electrical safety procedures
⚡ Safe systems of work
⚡ Industrial electrical power systems
…then we would love to hear from you.

At The Faraday Centre, we believe great training comes from more than textbooks. It comes from real-world experience, practical understanding and lessons learned in industry.

We can help you develop your teaching and training skills. What we are looking for is the technical knowledge, experience, professionalism and attitude to help others become safer and more competent electrical professionals.

The role will include delivering classroom and practical training at The Faraday Centre in Teesside, along with opportunities to deliver training at client sites throughout the UK and overseas.

Training shouldn't just prepare someone to pass an assessment. It should help them understand why electrical safety procedures exist and develop the knowledge, judgement and confidence required to work safely with electrical power systems.

Another fantastic day at Solar & Storage Live 2026!

Day 2 at the The NEC Campus Birmingham has once again been a brilliant experience for The Faraday Centre Ltd, with another full day of conversations, connections and opportunities to engage with people from across the solar, energy storage and wider power industries.

A huge thank you once again to the organisers, exhibitors and attendees who have made the event such an enjoyable and worthwhile experience.

What a fantastic first day at Solar & Storage Live 2026!

A huge thank you to the organisers, exhibitors and everyone who attended S&S Live UK at the The NEC Campus Birmingham today.

The team from The Faraday Centre had a brilliant day meeting people from across the solar, energy storage and wider power sectors, catching up with familiar faces and making some fantastic new connections.

A particular highlight was spending time with our friends at THORNE & DERRICK | LV HV Cables, Jointing, Termination, Substation & Electrical Eqpt | 600V to 66kV on Stand E73. It was great to catch up with the team, as well as having the opportunity to spend good time with PENTA Electrical Safety Products.

As fellow members of the Faraday Power Group, it’s always fantastic to be able to support one another at events across the UK.

The Faraday Power Group is all about bringing together expertise from across the electrical and power industries, building stronger relationships, sharing knowledge and supporting the sector - and events like Solar & Storage Live are a perfect opportunity to do exactly that.
