Why did the babies cross the road?…To learn road safety! 🦓🦺
During Child Safety Week last week, our little learners took a walk into the nursery car park to cross our zebra crossing. We stopped, we looked and we listened for any cars, people or other vehicles and once we were sure it was safe we all crossed together.
Showing our little ones crossings, roads and cars helps build foundational cognitive responses, normalises vital protective habits like holding hands and transforms early spatial awareness.

🍃🥧 Mud Kitchen! 🥧🍃
Inspired by our forest school story ‘21 Things to Do with a Mud Pie’, we created our very own mud station! Our children enjoyed making mud pies and muddy soup using natural resources collected outdoors 🥣🌿
This activity encouraged teamwork, imaginative play and strengthened our fine motor skills, all whilst having lots of messy fun.

Earth Day 🌍🌱
Last week in Rosycheeks, we celebrated Earth Day by stepping outdoors and immersing ourselves in nature. The children explored the trees using their senses, feeling the rough textures of the bark and using their upper body strength to pull themselves closer for a gentle “hug” with nature. It was a calm, engaging experience that encouraged curiosity and connection with the natural world.
Through this activity, the children developed their sensory awareness, physical strength, and emotional wellbeing. Spending time outdoors helps them feel calm and secure while beginning to build a meaningful connection with the environment. Celebrating Earth Day also introduces early understanding of caring for our planet and appreciating the world around us. 🌲

🌳🥚🍃 Forest School Easter Hunt 🍃🥚🌳
At the beginning of the month, our Rosycheeks made the most of the sunshine and headed outside for a special forest school Easter activity. Our children created their very own Easter eggs using natural items from the garden, exploring the outdoor area to find things that were rough, spiky, and green to add to their creations.
As our little ones gathered and carefully arranged their findings, they developed their fine motor skills, creativity, and understanding of the natural world. The activity also supported language development, curiosity, and teamwork, making it a calm and meaningful way to end our week.🌱

Hello Spring 🌼☀️🌿
Last month in Rosy Cheeks, we stepped outside to enjoy a little taste of spring 🌸✨ The children explored a sensory-rich outdoor play experience using soft yellow playdough, beautifully decorated with daffodils and daisies. We discovered natural treasures like sticks and pine cones, rolling, pressing, and exploring different textures along the way 🪵 Alongside this, we shared the lovely story Hello Spring, bringing the season to life through words and imagination 🌷📖
Exploring natural materials such as sticks, leaves, and flowers helps to strengthen fine motor skills and coordination. This activity also encouraged curiosity, creativity, and early language development, as the children explored the changing season through hands-on play and storytelling 🌿

A Magical World Book Day at Rosedene Ormesby 📚
On the 5th March we celebrated World Book Day, and we loved seeing all of the creative costumes our children and team came dressed in.
Throughout the day we shared our favourite stories, talked about which characters we were dressed as, and discussed why these books are so special to us.
World Book Day is a wonderful opportunity to inspire a love of reading in young children. Sharing stories helps to build imagination, language, and confidence while encouraging children to develop a lifelong love of books.📚⭐️

🎲 Roll and Tell – Wellbeing Wednesday in Blossoms 🎲
Last week, Blossoms enjoyed a special “Roll and Tell” dice game for Wellbeing Wednesday. After rolling the dice, we practised our counting skills and answered a question linked to the number it landed on! From sharing what makes us happy to choosing our dream superpowers, the children took turns confidently expressing themselves using helpful visual prompts. We heard some fantastic responses – from rescuing everyone to celebrating time with Grandad, favourite foods like watermelon 🍉 and much-loved toys like trains 🚂. We also added kind actions to our kindness tree and reflected on how we show care to others. 🥰
This activity supported our children’s emotional development by encouraging self-expression, turn-taking, and confidence in speaking. It also strengthened early maths skills through counting, while promoting kindness, empathy and positive wellbeing.

🪱🌳 Superworm Rescue in Rosycheeks! 🌳🪱
This morning, we brought this week’s forest school book to life in Rosycheeks! We spotted some “spaghetti worms” in our forest school area and carefully picked them up using tweezers, building our fine motor skills and hand strength while giggling along the way. We also enjoyed reading the story together, spotting a frog, a snail, and other little creatures! 🐌
This activity supports hand-eye coordination, strengthens different grips, boosts concentration, and develops language skills as we copied fun words like “wiggle wiggle.” 🌟
