Happy Little Sunbeams Day Nursery are looking for a qualified Level 3 Practitioner to join our wonderful team. Please note that this position is Term Time (39 weeks).

The successful candidate will have the following:

- A thorough understanding and knowledge of legislation including the Early Years Foundation Stage is essential.
- An enthusiastic and positive attitude along with excellent communication and written skills.
- The ability to build strong, supportive relationships with children, parents and staff and have excellent interpersonal skills.
- Have had experience of working with children in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Also, an Enhanced DBS check and references will be obtained.

Qualifications/skills:
- Level 3 or above (full and relevant Childcare Qualification)
- Relevant childcare qualifications i.e, English at Grade C or equivalent
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of legislation including EYFS, Safeguarding
- Empathetic, caring and friendly
- Enthusiastic, positive attitude
- Patient

💜 SEND Parent Support Sessions – Acklam 💜

Are you a SEND parent and sometimes feel like you’re navigating a complete minefield?

DLA forms, EHCPs, school support, diagnoses, behaviour, sensory needs… it can all feel overwhelming, and sometimes you just need someone who gets it.

We’re Jenny and Kerry, two mums who also happen to have a wealth of professional experience between us, and we’re thinking about setting up some informal SEND parent support sessions in Acklam.

Between us, we have over 37 years of professional experience supporting children, young people, adults and families.

👩‍🏫 Kerry – Teacher with 17+ years’ experience in Special Educational Needs, Specialist Dyslexia Teacher & Assessor, and SENCO for the past 10 years.

👩‍⚕️ Jenny – Registered Learning Disability Nurse with 20 years’ experience across health and social care.

We’d love to create a relaxed, friendly space where parents can come along, have a cuppa ☕, meet other SEND parents, share experiences and hopefully leave feeling a little less overwhelmed.

We could offer support and information around things such as:
💜 DLA and other assessment/application forms
💜 SEND support and navigating education
💜 Autism & ADHD awareness
💜 PDA awareness
💜 Sensory processing
💜 Positive Behaviour Support
💜 Risk management & safety
💜 Care planning
💜 Health and social care
💜CHC (continuing health care) assessments
💜 Sharing experiences and ideas with other SEND parents
💜 And simply having someone to talk to who understands!

Most importantly, we know first-hand how exhausting, confusing and isolating it can sometimes feel trying to find the right support for your child.

We're not looking to make this overly formal — just a friendly, supportive space for parents to come together, ask questions, share experiences and support one another.

To celebrate the Turner Prize opening at MIMA

We went to our local community hub today at the Newport settled for story time and to watch a short film. We absolutely enjoyed this trip out and cannot wait to go again. This is beneficial for our children for it to bring people together to read, share and talk about books in a social and supportive settling.

This week in sparkles the babies have baked healthy banana and raisin oats bars. These where absolutely delicious and we couldn't wait to try them.
We encourage children to bake to support them with their fine motor skills, support sharing, waiting and taking turns, following instructions and engage through gaze, gesture and speech and enhance their social abilities. When the children are involved in making their own healthy snack, they are more than willing to try it and feel some proudness that they help make it.

In sparkles we made our own Vietnam phò dish. We used died noodles and chickpeas, carrots and sweet potato. It was very delicious. We sat around the tuff tray together scooping the food into pans and chopped the veg up.
