💚 Green Lane... A Big School with a Big Heart 💚

Green Lane Primary Academy, part of TLLT, have been awarded several ‘Strong’ judgements following its latest Ofsted inspection.

Green Lane Primary Academy’s motto is “A Big School With A Big Heart” and the report says the school’s HEART values are realised through pupils’ hardworking attitudes, enthusiasm and resilience.

Headteacher Jackie Walsh said: “We are incredibly proud of our school and delighted that Ofsted inspectors recognised the nurturing, supportive, and hard-working community we have developed at Green Lane.

“Our pupils were highly praised throughout the inspection, which is a wonderful reflection of the dedication and commitment of our excellent staff team.”

💚 Big-hearted Middlesbrough school praised for key strengths by Ofsted inspectors 💚

We are delighted that Green Lane Primary Academy has been praised for its key strengths by Ofsted inspectors.

They have been awarded several 'Strong' judgements following the recent inspection including:

➡️ Inclusion
➡️ Leadership and Governance
➡️ Personal Wellbeing

Green Lane, who have been part of The Legacy Learning Trust since 2023, have a rich and well-considered programme, helping pupils develop into confident and responsible young citizens.

Pupils are “courteous, friendly, reflective and highly respectful” and are clear that everyone is treated equally. Pastoral support is “highly effective” with the school swiftly removing barriers to pupils’ wellbeing.

✨ The Power of Advocacy and Scrutiny Governor Conference ✨

This week, we brought together governors from across all eight of our schools for our first Trust-wide Governor Conference, focusing on ‘The Power of Advocacy and Scrutiny’.

Effective governance plays a vital role in ensuring that every decision made within our schools and Trust is focused on achieving the best possible outcomes for our pupils.

Throughout the conference, governors explored how advocacy enables them to champion the needs and experiences of pupils, families and their school communities, helping to ensure that their voices remain at the heart of decision-making.

They also explored the importance of scrutiny – asking the right questions, constructively challenging decisions and holding leaders to account. Strong scrutiny provides essential independent oversight, helping boards to ensure that educational standards, safeguarding, resources and finances are being managed effectively.

Training of this kind is an important part of developing effective governance. It gives governors the knowledge, confidence and skills they need to challenge constructively, support school leaders and make informed decisions on behalf of their school communities.

The training was delivered by members of our Trust Shared Services team, who shared their knowledge, expertise and best practice throughout the day, creating opportunities for governors to learn from one another and strengthen their practice.

✨ Spud-tacular Service from Beverley School! ✨

Our Beverley School Community Jacket Potato Service is back for September! 🎉

As part of their Enterprise Project, students at Beverley School have been busy preparing and delivering delicious jacket potatoes to members of our Trust Shared Services Team.

Our colleagues get a tasty lunch, while the students gain valuable experience as part of their enterprise programme. From preparing food and taking orders to handling payments, communicating with customers and delivering their products, the students are developing the skills, confidence and independence they need to prepare for the world of work 👏

It was fantastic to welcome the students back for another year of their brilliant service, including some personalised drawings on each of the boxes! We’re already looking forward to next week 🙌

✨ Important milestone as Beverley School joins The Legacy Learning Trust ✨

We are delighted to announce that Beverley School Community, which serves children requiring autism-focused education, is the first specialist school to join TLLT.

Beverley is the eighth school to become part of our trust in eight years since we launched. This opportunity is especially significant as it brings together specialist provision, and mainstream primary and secondary education, into a single multi-academy trust which is a rare move and an important milestone for us.

Sarah Lymer, chief executive of TLLT, said: "“This is an important milestone in the Trust’s continued growth, and strengthening its commitment to inclusive education across the region.

“Welcoming such a highly respected specialist school into our Trust underscores our shared commitment to nurturing the potential of every student.

“Through our collaborative approach, our schools maintain their unique character while benefitting from a strong network of expertise, resources, and development and leadership opportunities.”

The move coincides with the appointment of Executive Headteacher, Katie Haycock, who has a wealth of experience in school leadership and significant expertise in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Katie also has an executive role in driving SEND leadership across our schools.

“I am so excited to be joining an exceptionally dedicated team at Beverley School, and a pioneering education trust that is leading the way by bringing mainstream and specialist education together,” said Mrs Haycock.

“It is rare to see that happen and there are so many mutual benefits. The children at Beverley School will benefit from being part of the trust, and the trust will be enriched by our children.”
