Meysey Hampton Church of England Primary School

Meysey Hampton Church of England Primary School We are a happy, thriving Church of England school set in the beautiful surroundings of Meysey Hampton

Our school is tucked away in a beautiful rural setting in the heart of Meysey Hampton village. The original Victorian school dates back to 1872 but as numbers on role have increased, additional buildings have been added to the site and most recently we have acquired two state of the art eco-studios, creating additional learning space for music lessons, small group work and administration. We have approximately 105 children on roll, aged from 4 to 11 and the children are encouraged to take care of one another from the moment they arrive in school. We have a team of highly qualified, high calibre teachers, teaching assistants and support workers who are all committed to ensuring that all the children achieve well and the school runs smoothly. Our four classes are organised into the following age groups:

Reception (Foundation Stage)
Years 1 and 2 (Key Stage 1)
Years 3 and 4 (Lower Key Stage 2)
Years 5 and 6 (Upper Key Stage 2)
With the exception of Reception, who are taught as a single cohort of 15 children, all the other children are taught in mixed age classes of approximately 30 children. Each class has a dedicated teaching assistant to support learning and specialists are employed to teach PE, sport, languages and dance.

We are very much looking forward to seeing you all at Sports Day this afternoon. We are looking a little different this year as the children will be sitting under the gazebos by the trees and parents will spectating on the other side.

What a fabulous day the whole school has had at the Cotswold Wildlife Park! We enjoyed workshops on Exploring Animals (reception class even held a snake skin, piece of giraffe neck and rhino poo!), Habitat Homes and Plants in Action. We loved looking at all the animals and eating our picnic lunches. Y56 even found a bit of time to play on the adventure playground!

It's been transition week at Meysey! We have welcomed our new reception class who have been in to see their new classroom, meet Miss Burden and play with their new friends. Our Year R, Year 2 and Year 4 children have spent time in their new classrooms with their new classmates and teachers. There has been salt dough fossil making and ammonite designs in Y12. Y34 have designed, created and flown their own aeroplanes and Y56 have designed Viking long ships! Take a look at this week's newsletter to find out what else they all got up to!
