Job Title: Children’s Residential Support Worker - Learning Disabilities
Location: Edenthorpe, Doncaster
Hourly rate £12.87 - £14.03
Salary: Basic contracted hours are 151 hours per month, £23,330 - £25,440, overtime is paid at time and a half, and sleep ins are paid at £55 per night required.
Contract Type: Full-time positions, days are condensed into 7 x 15-hour shifts over three weeks, on a 3-week rolling rota. Week 1 – three days, Week 2 – three days, Week 3 – one day.
The hours of work are 07:00-22:00.
This is to achieve a good work life balance for our team while also providing continuity of care for long durations for the children we support.
Waking night positions are also available on a 4 on 4 off rolling rota, 10 hour shifts.
There are also BANK positions available if you want more flexibility in your work life.

Role Overview: As a Support Worker at our Learning Disabilities Children's Residential Home, you will play an important role in the lives of the children we support. You will be responsible for providing personalised care, promoting independence, and creating memorable experiences for the children while ensuring their safety and well-being. We require candidates to have a passion for caring and supporting children with additional needs.
The role can be physically demanding, so active participation in children’s activities is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
 Provide one-to-one/ two-to-one support and assistance to children with learning disabilities and potentially other associated needs such as physical disability, sensory impairment, or learning difficulties.
 Promote a supportive and inclusive environment that promotes independence and personal growth for the children in our care.
 Create and implement engaging activities and routines tailored to each child's unique needs and interests.
 Support with moving and handling with the use of equipment if required. All staff will be trained in CPI.
 Administer medication and provide basic healthcare as required, in compliance with established protocols.
 Collaborate with families, multidisciplinary teams, including therapists, educators, and healthcare professionals, to ensure we communicate and work as a team in the best interests of each child in our care.
 Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including care plans, key work sessions, activity logs, health and safety checks, progress reports, and incident logs etc.
 Promote positive behaviour and implement behaviour management strategies in accordance with Children’s Individual Support Plans.
 Ensure each child has the opportunity to reach their optimum potential.
 Provide emotional support and be a positive role model for the children in your care.
 Be the person a child can turn to for support, having the ability to be empathetic, understanding, and supportive whilst always having the children’s views, wishes, and feelings in mind.
 Ensure a safe and clean living environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
 Support children meeting the nine Quality Standards.
 Support children to appointments, activities, and family time, etc.
Requirements:
 Previous experience working with children with learning disabilities is highly desirable.
 NVQ/ Diploma Level 3 in Children’s and Young People or Health and Social Care (or equivalent) is advantageous.
 Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
 Computer skills are desirable.
 Compassion, empathy, and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of children with learning disabilities.
 Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with professionals from various disciplines.
 A flexible approach to work, including availability for shift work, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
 A driving license is preferred.
