Today, all of our YBR nurseries are receiving their very own pumpkins, ready for a wonderful season of autumn adventures! πŸ‚πŸŽƒ

There’s something so special about this time of year, and we can’t wait to see the excitement on the children’s faces as they explore, investigate and get hands-on with these beautiful autumn treasures.

From exploring colours, textures and shapes to counting, comparing sizes, getting creative and using their imaginations, pumpkins offer so many wonderful opportunities for learning through real-life experiences. 🧑

Lots of our children have been all about cars this week, so we followed their interests and created our very own garage role-play area! πŸ₯°

The children have been busy using their imaginations to become mechanics, fixing cars, exploring tools and working together to solve problems. πŸ› οΈ We’ve been talking about how cars work, what different tools are used for and how we can keep ourselves safe when working in a garage.

There have been lots of opportunities for problem-solving, communication, turn-taking, imaginative play and developing physical skills as the children hammer, screw, build, fix and transport their vehicles. πŸš˜πŸ”©

We’ve also been exploring road safety, looking at signs and thinking about what we might see when out and about in our local community. 🚦

Our preschool children have been getting creative with pumpkins and exploring the different ways we can use them! 🧑

We explored rolling, mixing, cutting, squashing and decorating, developing our fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination as we worked with different tools and materials. πŸ₯£πŸ–οΈ

We also spoken about how pumpkins grow, explored their different textures and colours, and used our senses to investigate the pumpkin and its seeds. πŸŒ±πŸŽƒ

Reading β€˜Little Acorn’ alongside our autumn activities gave us lots of opportunities to talk about autumn, nature and the changing seasons. πŸπŸ“š

Our preschool children have been exploring the sights, textures and colours of autumn through our sensory bins! 🍁

We used lentils, pumpkin seeds, white beans, pinecones and mini pumpkins, giving the children lots of opportunities to scoop, pour, sort and explore. πŸ₯„πŸŒ°

The children used the tweezers to carefully pick up and move the smaller materials, supporting their fine motor development, hand-eye coordination and concentration. We also explored counting, colours, size and patterns, while developing lots of new autumn vocabulary along the way. πŸ‚πŸ”’

We love how open-ended sensory play allows children to explore at their own pace, use their imaginations and learn through hands-on experiences. ❀️

This week, our babies have been exploring natural resources, following on from one of our termly activities sent home, where families were invited to collect natural resources during their autumnal walks. πŸ‚
We used these in a taste-safe painting activity with yoghurt and food colouring, allowing our babies to explore their senses of taste and touch while developing fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. They also enjoyed experiencing the different textures of real-life natural resources and exploring different ways of mark-making.
They absolutely loved getting involved and got very messy! 🎨 It was a wonderful sensory experience filled with curiosity, exploration and lots of fun🧑

The children loved getting creative before heading out to hand-deliver their special cards. It was a lovely opportunity to explore our local community, practise giving to others and discover how even the smallest acts of kindness can make someone smile. πŸ₯°
