❤️ We couldn’t be prouder of our pupils today ❤️

Following this year’s Messingham Show, a steward from the event took the time to contact the school personally to tell us how lovely, polite and respectful our children were throughout the day.

As a school, there are few compliments that mean more to us than this.

We are incredibly fortunate that Messingham Show once again provided free tickets for every child at Messingham Primary School. The show committee’s generosity allows our children and families to enjoy a fantastic community event, so to hear that our pupils represented both themselves and our school so positively genuinely makes our hearts happy and our eyes a little watery.

At Messingham Primary School, we are proud to be a Values Based Education school. This month, we have been focusing on the value of integrity - doing the right thing even when nobody is watching. While academic achievements are important, hearing that our children demonstrated integrity, kindness, respect and excellent manners whilst representing our school in the wider community is something truly special.

To receive feedback from members of the public recognising our pupils’ manners, behaviour and kindness is a credit to the children themselves, their families and our dedicated staff team.

Well done, Team MPS. You represented your school brilliantly and reminded us exactly why we are so proud of each and every one of you. ⭐

And a final thank you to Messingham Show for their continued support of our school and community. We are already looking forward to next year 🐴 🎡🎪

Cheerleading Club
Year 3 and 4 children were absolutely fantastic at Cheerleading Club last half term. We had some amazing Year 6 girls that volunteered to help out as leaders which made the sessions even more enjoyable so thank you girls.

Mrs Hutchings was shocked at how quickly all the girls progressed, learning brand new stunts and new choreography in only 5 weeks resulting in them performing such a beautiful routine for parents to watch. Congratulations to all the Year 3, 4 and 6 girls who were an absolute pleasure to teach and thank you to so many parents / guardians for coming to watch their performance.

Cheerleading Club was able to happen because of the Sports Premium funding that all primary schools received this year. This has allowed Mrs Hutchings to come into school not only to take Cheerleading Club, Hockey Club, Rounders Club, Sports Hall Athletics and Netball Club but to support the teachers with their PE lessons, organise and run the house competitions and also train the Year 4 and 5 Sports Leaders.

The Sports Premium money has also been used for Lee Frecklington to come into school and has given the children fantastic footballing opportunities with a top professional footballer and coach. These are just some of the areas where we have spent the Sports Premium money to enhance PE and sport at Messingham. We will be adding more photos over the next week.

New Extra-curricular Sporting Opportunities

We are really proud of the extra-curricular activities we are able to offer at Messingham. We are lucky to have had excellent support from the local community and all the parent volunteers that have supported the teachers and TA’s in the Autumn and Spring term and have coached our children in football and netball. This will be seen in posts over the next few days. Thank you.

We have now extended this further for the summer term by offering lots of brand new lunch time clubs.

Mrs Hutchings has put together a new clubs timetable for the summer term for all year groups and she has been training the Year 5 Sports Leaders as part of the Sports Premium funding.

As a result we are now offering 7 lunch time clubs led by the Sports Leaders including basketball, football, rounders, boccia and curling. In addition to this Mr and Mrs Hutchings will be taking a lunch basketball and rounders club. There are two morning clubs one with Miss Maxwell for Year 1 and 2 dance and one with Mrs Hutchings for Year 6 to help them be secondary ready and finally a Rounders club with Mrs Hutchings after school.

All of these clubs can be found on the clubs timetable. If your child would like to attend a lunch time club they just need their trainers or trainer like school shoes. These can be worn to school on the day of the club. Shin pads will also be needed for Year 3 and 4 football.

We would love it if you can encourage your child to take up this wonderful opportunity by attending one or more of these clubs. Mrs Hutchings is in school on Fridays if they have any questions.

Congratulations to the Year 5 Sports Leaders for their enthusiasm during training. We can’t wait to see them in action.

Thank you for all your support.

A massive thank you goes to our year 5/6 girls team who qualified for the premier league stars final that was played at Wolverhampton Wanderers FC on May 22nd. It was an early start for some as the bus left at 5.15am (so Mrs Stenton tells me) and we arrived in Wolverhampton to take part alongside other teams that qualified. We were not only representing Messingham but also playing as Scunthorpe United FC. Cheered on by parents and relatives we made it through to the quarter finals only being knocked out by Brentford - the eventual winners. We are so proud of your achievements girls and we must thank Paul Lindsey, Gav Copper, Mrs Stenton and all of the parents and relatives that made the long journey. This team are through to the final of the Humber Cup (a history making first time for us) on June 25th and whatever the outcome it’s been an incredible year.

Miss Maxwell’s dance club is still running every Friday.

Sorry if there has been any confusion around this.

Miss Maxwell is looking forward to seeing her dancers in the morning but understands that this message may not be seen by all parents of the group so do not worry if it is missed.

Huge thank you to Messingham Show for once again providing every child at Messingham Primary School with a free entry ticket to the show. This is the second year running that the show committee has generously supported our children in this way, and it really does mean so much to them.

The excitement around school today has been incredible as children received their show packs. There has been lots of discussion about talent show performances, favourite fairground rides, meeting the birds of prey, and all the other fantastic attractions on offer this Saturday.

A special mention to Mrs Fisher and Mr Gray, who are looking forward to getting involved in this year’s show and will be running the Top Bins Challenge at 11am. Make sure you pop along and get in on the action.

Thank you again to everyone at Messingham Show for your continued support of our school and community. We look forward to seeing many of our families on Saturday for what promises to be a fantastic day of fun, entertainment and community spirit. 🎡🎶🐕🦅⚽️

Reception class are having the best time with their minibeasts topic and are absolutely loving their five pet caterpillars! The children have cared for Calvin, Carol, Daisy, Olly and Sky - all lovingly named by the class, with some even named after their friends! Since arriving as tiny baby caterpillars, they have grown so much and are now all fast asleep in their cocoons. Everyone is excitedly waiting and watching patiently for them to emerge as beautiful butterflies. 🦋 🐛 🌳💚
