🐝 THE HIVE – OUR CHOSEN VALUE: KINDNESS πŸ’›

As we entered our new school building for the very first time, it was a fantastic opportunity for some of our pupils to visit our brand-new β€˜Hive Room’! 🐝🏫

Pupils were chosen by their class teachers for showing excellent examples of kindness throughout their first week in our new school. 🌟

As a reward, they enjoyed a special afternoon in The Hive, where they:
🎨 Enjoyed colouring
πŸ’» Spent time on the Chromebooks
😊 Socialised and enjoyed time together
🎬 Finished the afternoon with a movie

It was wonderful to see our pupils demonstrating kindness, making new friendships, and enjoying their first experience of The Hive. πŸ’›πŸ

πŸ‘ Well done to all of our chosen pupils this week! You should be incredibly proud of yourselves!

Thank you again this morning to everyone who walked to school. We understand that this is difficult for lots of you but we appreciate you helping us in our first few days at the school.

At the end of the day today, there will be limited parking spaces to collect your children. If you are picking younger children up, please use the parking spaces but if you are simply waiting for older children, please use the turning circle and drive off immediately after you have collected your children.

If possible to lessen the amount of traffic, we would still appreciate if as many of you as possible could walk.

Outside the school grounds, please listen to the school staff who will do their best to direct you and your children in and out of the school site safely.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation at this time.

Thank you for your cooperation and support this morning, making our job easier welcoming your children back to Goetre.

Thank you to the large majority of parents who walked to school this morning. This helped lessen the traffic so we were able to organise inside the grounds on the first day. If at all possible, can this please continue for the next few weeks.

There were a few minor issues that we are trying our best to sort out.

As you are aware there is still lots of work ongoing on the road outside the school. We will have lots of staff outside, directing parents safely into the school and then to their children’s classes for collection. Please listen to the staff and follow the instructions. This will hopefully ensure you and your children can enter and leave the school safely. We understand your frustration and you may need to walk a little further but we are doing our upmost to keep your children safe.

Please use the designated paths inside the school and do not walk through the car park. There will be cars and taxi’s moving at the start and the end of the school day.

If you are driving a vehicle, please ensure that you look out for the traffic lights to help you navigate the school grounds safely.

Thanks again for this morning and your continued support with these issues.

There are still roadworks outside the school. If possible, could you please make an effort to walk to school today. This will help with the traffic problems.

Thank you πŸ™πŸ»

We are delighted to have finally had the go ahead to welcome pupils back to school tomorrow, 3rd September.

Internally, the new school building is functioning well and ready for our pupils. However, there are still some ongoing works taking place externally. These are mainly focused on the road outside the school, where a three-way traffic light system is currently in operation, and within the school grounds, where the exceptionally hot weather over the summer has unfortunately affected planting and seeding.

Due to the roadworks, we strongly encourage as many families as possible to walk to school where they can. Please note that a pedestrian footpath diversion is currently in place. Please follow the signed pedestrian diversion routes when travelling to and from the school.

To support everyone on their first day, members of staff will be positioned along the routes to help guide pupils and families around the school site. Please stay on paths and keep your children off unseeded areas.

Breakfast Club will be open from 8:00am, and staff will be available to direct pupils to the correct entrance. For pupils not attending Breakfast Club, classroom doors will open at 8:35am (with gates opening at 8:30am). Again, staff will direct you. School will begin promptly at 8:45am.

At the end of the day, Reception to Year 2 pupils will be dismissed at 3:05pm (Nursery parents will be dojo’d information shortly), with Junior pupils dismissed at 3:10pm. This arrangement will allow parents and carers with children in both phases to collect their younger children first.

We appreciate that the delayed roadworks and the impact of the unusually hot weather on the grounds are frustrating. Unfortunately, these are matters beyond the school's control. Nevertheless, we have worked incredibly hard to ensure that the school is ready to welcome pupils, and we are very much looking forward to seeing them tomorrow.

Please bear with us during these first few days as everyone becomes familiar with the new site and over the next few weeks as the external work is completed.

Your patience, understanding and support are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

❗️❗️Important Message for Parents ❗️❗️

It has been brought to our attention that there are concerns circulating that the new school will not be ready for the opening day on Thursday 3rd September. We have been assured by the construction team that the school is still on time to open by the start of the school term.

The inside of the school is near completion, however there maybe some work in the grounds and the road outside that still need completing.

We would advise parents where possible, to walk to school to limit the cars in the area, just in case there are issues with the grounds.

If anything changes we will let you know as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued support with this.
