Some clips here from a putting lesson earlier this week with new Client Jason.

Jason’s initial complaint with his putting was missing the short ones left and distance control.

It was clear to see Jason is capable of becoming a good putter but changes were needing to his grip, stance and general approach to green reading.

Introducing Jason to start direction, breaking point, fall line, green reading made a huge difference and it was great to see Jason free up when he had confidence in what the putt was going to do and where to start it.

Jason’s practice sessions will now be of a much higher standard and I expect Jason to make huge progress in the coming weeks 👏

Played my first full round of the year this week and made sure it was at somewhere amazing! you were fantastic!

We played the Old course which has been on my bucket list for a while, and it didn’t disappoint.

A great welcome by Wendy in reception, and great service in the Pro Shop by Head Pro Simon and his team. The clubhouse was exactly how a clubhouse should be…modern, comfortable and embraces the clubs history….and the food was great!

The course was all I had hoped it would be. Brilliantly designed and in fantastic condition, trouble to be found if you strayed off line but offering scoring opportunities if you played some good stuff. Greens were 👌👌

My own golf was expectedly rusty in parts but plenty of positive signs too.

+3 total
Time to play more now and less technical focus.

I recently ran an On Course Lesson and Follow Up Sessions promotion which had a fantastic uptake.

In the majority of those sessions, the biggest takeaway was that people’s short games were not good enough for where they wanted to get their handicaps too.

Regular faults were:
- duffed and thinned chips
- too many 3 putts (distance control and green reading)
- thinned and heavy bunker shots resulting in 2+ shots to get out
- good pitch shots but poor knowledge of carry distances

The short game for me is the scoring game. To consistently score well and be competitive you need a consistent short game. Errors in this area are disastrous to your scorecard and put pressure on your approach play.

Great to take Jack on the course for a few holes this evening, he did brilliantly. He battles on every day and I couldn’t be more proud of him. So lucky he’s my boy! 🩵
