One of the things that is really important to us here at Little Stars is creating a culture of sharing, caring and looking out for one another. 🥰

We have a little library in our main reception which is there for everyone — our children, siblings and even our parents! 📚❤️ Please have a browse, take a book home, enjoy it together and bring it back when you’re ready. We really do believe that a love of books starts with those little moments together.

Reading is such an important part of the EYFS, helping children develop their language, imagination and confidence, but for me it’s also about creating those lovely memories of snuggling up with a story and enjoying a book together. 📖

And our sharing doesn’t stop at books…

🥕 Every Friday we offer food packages to families where we can. It’s a small way we can help support families whilst also doing our bit to reduce food waste and be more sustainable.

👕 We also have clothing packages available from donations giving good quality clothes another life and hopefully helping families along the way.

And please, if there is something you or your family genuinely need, pop a little note in our Wish Box.

We can’t promise we’ll always be able to find what you need, but we can promise that we’ll have a look and see if there is something we can do. Sometimes a small bit of help can make a really big difference.

This is what I love about our Little Stars community. ❤️

It’s not just about the children while they are with us — it’s about our families, our community and looking after each other wherever we can.

LOOK AT OUR AMAZING ARTWORK! ✨🎨

Did you know that at Little Stars, as part of our curriculum, we introduce an ‘Artist of the Term’?

We use our chosen artist to inspire and
encourage the children’s creativity, imagination and self-expression. By exploring different artists, their styles and techniques, we give the children the opportunity to experiment, make their own choices and discover that there’s no right or wrong way to be creative! 🖌️🌈

This term, we have been exploring the work of David Hockney — looking at his use of colour, shapes and landscapes to inspire our own creations.

Just look at what one of our little artists has created after exploring Hockney’s artwork!

We love seeing how the children take inspiration from the artists we explore and then put their own unique ideas and creativity into their work. 🌟

We think this is absolutely fantastic! 👏🎨

We had a very exciting visit from the police today! The children loved meeting PCSO Fen and learning all about the important job they do while having the opportunity to explore the police car. 🚔✨

A huge special thank you to PCSO Fen for taking the time to visit us, chat with the children and make the experience so enjoyable and memorable. 💙

It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn about our community and the people who help to keep us safe! 🌟

🌟👮‍♂️ A fantastic visit to Little Stars Nursery today! 🚓✨

I had the pleasure of spending some time with the children, who were full of energy, curiosity, and lots of great questions! The highlight of the visit was giving them the chance to try on some police uniform. 👮‍♀️👮‍♂️

The children also got to explore the police car, sit inside, and of course enjoy the lights and sirens, which proved to be very popular! 🚔🚨 There were plenty of smiles, excitement, and future police officers in the making.

A big thank you to all the staff and children at Little Stars Nursery for making me feel so welcome. It was great to engage with the youngsters and help build positive relationships between the police and our community from an early age.

🎓✨ **LISA IS A BA GRADUATE!!** ✨🎓

Today we are celebrating our wonderful Lisa, who has officially graduated with her **BA Degree!** 🥳👏

Lisa has dedicated years of hard work, commitment and determination to reaching Level 6, balancing studying alongside her role at Little Stars, family life and everything else that comes with life in early years.

It hasn't always been easy, but Lisa has stuck with it, continued to learn, pushed herself and shown exactly what can be achieved when you believe in yourself and keep going. ❤️

We are SO incredibly proud of you, Lisa! 🌟

Your dedication to your own professional development and, most importantly, to giving our children the very best start in life is something to be hugely proud of.

From assignments and deadlines to practical learning, long days and probably more cups of iced coffee than you'd care to admit 😂☕ — you've done it!

🌟 Did you know… we’re taking part in the Maths Champions Programme with the National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA)? 🔢✨

We are proud to be taking part in the Maths Champions Programme, a fantastic programme designed to celebrate and promote high-quality maths experiences in early years settings.

Maths is already a really important part of our everyday practice, and we’re excited to be taking part in the programme to build on the fantastic work we already do and discover even more creative ways to make maths meaningful, exciting and fun for our children. 🧮✨

Our team have been exploring a wonderful range of activities and experiences, finding opportunities to weave mathematical thinking naturally into play, routines and everyday learning. From counting and sorting to shapes, patterns, measuring and problem-solving, we’re showing that maths is everywhere! 👀🔢🔺📏

The programme is also a great opportunity for our practitioners to share ideas, celebrate the excellent practice already happening across our setting and continue developing their professional knowledge and expertise.

💬 We love giving advice and sharing ideas with our families! ❤️

And today’s question was all about early maths 🔢✨

So, here are some of our top tips for helping your little one develop their early maths skills at home — without it feeling like learning! 👇

At Little Stars, we know that early maths doesn’t have to mean sitting down with a worksheet or learning to recognise numbers. For our youngest children, it’s all about play, everyday experiences and having fun with mathematical language. 💕

🛒 Going shopping? Count a few items in the trolley, talk about “one more”, “lots”, “more” and “all gone”, and look for numbers on price labels and signs.

🚶‍♀️ Out for a walk? Go on a little number hunt! Look at house numbers, car registration plates, buses and signs.

👟 Getting dressed? “One shoe… two shoes!” “One sock… two socks!”

🧸 Playing? Count toy animals, cars or building blocks. Build a tower and talk about which is “taller”, “bigger” or has “more”.

🎵 Sing number rhymes such as Five Little Ducks, Five Little Speckled Frogs or Two Little Dickie Birds.

🎂 Use special occasions! If your little one is haing a birthday, look out for the numbers on birthday cards, cakes, balloons and decorations. It makes the number meaningful and exciting! 🎈

💦 Bath and messy play are perfect for mathematical language too — full, empty, more, less, big, little, lots and one more.

And remember… counting doesn't have to be perfect! If your toddler proudly tells you “1, 2, 3, 7!” 😂 that's absolutely fine. At this age, we are building an understanding of quantity, number and mathematical language through experiences and repetition.

The best learning happens when it is part of everyday life — shopping, walking, playing, cooking, getting dressed and celebrating together. ❤️

So don't worry about “teaching” numbers. Talk about them, notice them and have fun with them!

✨ Everyday moments = learning moments. ✨

🧦 Pairing socks — one of my favourites!
Give your little one a basket of clean socks and let them find the matching pairs. You can talk about same, different, matching, one pair, two pairs, more and less. They are developing their ability to notice similarities and differences, matching and sorting skills, visual discrimination and early mathematical thinking… AND you get the socks paired up! 😂🙌

🌧️🌲 Preschool parents- Forest School is still going ahead! 🌲🌧️

A little rain won’t stop us! ☔️ Our planned Forest School session is going ahead as normal, and we’re looking forward to embracing the weather and letting the children enjoy everything a rainy day has to offer. 💦🍂

Please ensure your child comes prepared with:
🧥 Waterproof coat and trousers
🥾 Wellies
👕 A full set of spare clothes – these are really important so we can get your child changed and warm and comfortable after their adventure.

There’s something magical about exploring the outdoors in the rain. The children love splashing in puddles, feeling the rain, discovering muddy treasures and seeing how the environment changes with the weather. 🌧️🌿

Forest School is all about experiencing nature first-hand, and we don’t just want to explore on the sunny days! Rain brings new opportunities for learning, sensory experiences, problem-solving and lots of fun. And, let’s be honest… children often LOVE a rainy day! 😍💦

So, bring on the rain! ☔️🌳 We’ll be getting our wellies on, getting a little muddy and making some wonderful memories together. 💚

Did you achieve a Level 4 or above in Maths and English last week in your GCSEs?

You could join us at Little Stars Day Nursery @ The Lodge based at Pera Business Park and complete a Level 3 Early Years Apprenticeship while gaining valuable, hands-on experience working with children — a qualification equivalent to 3 A Levels.

As one little chapter comes to an end, another exciting one begins… 💛

To all our school leavers — what a journey it has been! 🌈
You’ve grown, you’ve learned, you’ve laughed, you’ve made friends and created so many special memories along the way.

Now it’s time to spread your wings, step through the next door and begin your Primary school adventure 🎒📚

Goodbye to the days that helped you grow
Hello to the places you’re ready to go
Take all your memories, your laughter and cheer
And carry them with you into the year
New doors will open, new friendships will start
But Little Stars will always hold a piece of your heart

Near or far, wherever you are, you will always be a Little Star ⭐

And while we say goodbye to some very special children, we are also getting ready to say a huge WELCOME to our new Little Stars! 🌟

New friends, new faces, new adventures, new discoveries and lots of opportunities to learn, play and grow together. 🥰

Our new Term Time Autumn Term begins Wednesday 26th August, and we simply cannot wait to welcome everyone back — and meet all of our new starters! 💫

Remember...schools are open for 39 weeks and oir Funding is only for 38 weeks!
