Melton and District Astronomical Society

Melton and District Astronomical Society Melton and District Astronomical Society was founded in 1999 and is open to everyone interested in astronomy.

Whatever your experience or interests, Melton and District Astronomical Society has something for everyone with an interest in astronomy. We are a small, informal society where the chance to chat and pick people's brains is an important feature. Our monthly meeting are held in Gaddesby in rural east Leicestershire. Meetings are a mixture of talks and observing sessions, and provide an opportunity to talk to others with similar interests. We are predominantly an observing society, and our rural location provides us with a reasonably dark observing site which we take advantage of on most clear meeting nights. Here, you can see the sites of the night sky with the naked eye, binoculars or cutting edge telescopes, and see how visual and electronic observing is done. We are a member of the Federation of Astronomical Societies, http://fedastro.org.uk/fas/
