River Mead School

What a great day at Braeside for Y4 yesterday, and all the children slept so well too. Many of them were asking last night: “Can we go to bed yet?” Everyone was asleep by 9pm!

They have more activities this morning - canoeing, crate stacking and problem solving tasks and they will be back to school after lunch.

Year 6 have been having a wonderful time at Grittleton. Here are a few photos from some of their activities: Buggy building, crate challenge, archery tag, problem solving and fire-lighting.

Our British Sign Language club recently went on a scavenger hunt around school and using finger spelling to work out the clues. What fun!

Herons have been really busy with their learning recently. Here they are researching Igneous rocks to complete a Fact-file in Science and using Scratch to program a sprite to follow commands.

Dormice loved their visit from tropical discovery recently! They learnt about a range of interesting animals and asked several thoughtful questions about them. Here they are being brave and interacting with the animals! 🐍 🪳 🦎

Just a reminder that school is closed today (Monday 5th January) for a teacher training day - we look forward to seeing you all tomorrow for the first day of the new term!

Dormice have enjoyed their computing lessons with Miss Goulding and Mrs Tuck. This term they have been looking at abstract art created by artists such as Wassily Kandinsky and Henri Matisse. They then had a go at creating their own abstract art using various tools on Paintz.
