🐧 What an unforgettable experience for Year 2!
📚
In Term 4, Year 2 explored the wonderful book Einstein the Penguin by Iona Rangeley during their reading lessons. The children loved the story so much that, during Book Club lessons, they decided to explore Iona’s website to learn more about the other Einstein the Penguin books and discover more about the author herself.

While exploring the website, Rabbit Class and Owl Class found an opportunity to send Iona a message — so they did! The children shared how much they loved the first book, how excited they were to read the rest of the series, and even asked if she might be able to visit our school.

To everyone’s amazement… she replied and said yes!

On Wednesday 29th April, Iona Rangeley visited our school and spent the day with Year 2. She delivered a fascinating talk about how she became an author and what inspired her to write Einstein the Penguin. She also led fantastic workshops with each class, teaching the children how to create their own mystery stories.
To top off an already magical day, the children were able to have their books signed by Iona — something they found incredibly exciting! ✍️📖

What a truly wonderful experience and a day that Year 2 will remember for a very long time. A huge thank you to Iona Rangeley for inspiring our young readers and writers!

🐾 Bumblebees and Ladybirds had a very exciting visit this week as they welcomed some cuddly and wonderful creatures for Pet Day! 🐰🦎🐹

The visit linked perfectly to their enquiry question: What makes a good pet?
The children have fully immersed themselves in their learning by exploring a range of books, spotting and discussing different animals, and learning about how to care for pets responsibly.

The children thoroughly enjoyed meeting the animals and were fantastic at asking thoughtful questions to learn more about each one. After the visit, the children even had the chance to vote for their favourite pet and write about why they liked it best! ✏️🐾

It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to explore, discover and build confidence around different pets and creatures. A huge thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special — there were lots of smiles, curiosity and excitement all around! 💛
