The Traditional Upholstery Workshop has been running residential upholstery courses in Traditional Upholstery for many years. We are an approved training centre for the Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers. In addition AMUSF accredited Stage 1, Stage 2 and Stage 3 Diploma, we also offer flexible course options for students looking for a less formal approach to learning upholstery

skills. We have courses running most weeks of the year and with small class sizes we teach each student individually regardless of experience.

Such incredible pieces of furniture - the skills learned this year!!! - on display this past Saturday during our annual AMUSF certificate verification day! It has been such a pleasure to spend time with all of these wonderful people this year in The Traditional Upholstery Workshop in the Old Piggery. The students really poured themselves into these projects and the results are amazing. Very proud of all of you!!

Maddie is about to complete her AMUSF stage 1 qualification.

Over the course of the last year Maddie has got to grips with many of the basic upholstery techniques. She’s been producing beautiful furniture of which this traditionally upholstered dining chair is a great example.

It’s gorgeous!!

Janice has worked her magic on one of our deep buttoned ottoman boxes. The dark navy wool is really sharp!

A leather handle, brass hinges and chains, and stained and polished bun feet give this little box a very high end finish. πŸ‘ŒπŸ»

Caroline joined us for a week in order to reupholster this chair. It was her first time in the workshop on our leisure course.

It took nearly a whole day to pull out all the rusty, old staples but it was plain sailing from there. We used modern techniques and materials and luckily we had the perfect trim in stock to complete the sharp look.
