💙 Whitletts Vics at Dolphin House

Over the past two weeks, we’ve welcomed two groups from Whitletts Vics - Community & Wellbeing to Dolphin House for days spent getting outdoors and trying something different.

Across the two visits, the groups got involved in biking, paddlesports, caving and more, making the most of our surroundings here at Culzean. 🚲🛶🌊

It’s been great having everyone along, enjoying some time outdoors, trying new activities and spending the day together.

A big well done to everyone who got involved, and thanks for joining us — we hope to see you back again soon! 🙌

🚲🍂 Our Autumn Cycling Programme is here!

We’re keeping the wheels turning this autumn with another packed programme of FREE cycling sessions across South Ayrshire, running throughout September and October and into the school holidays 🎃

Whether it’s learning to ride for the first time, building confidence on the pump track and ramps, heading out on the trails or working towards a GoMTB Award, there’s something for a range of ages and abilities.

🚲 Bikes and helmets provided
🆓 All sessions are completely FREE

Looking for something exciting to do during the October holidays? Join us at Dolphin House for a full day of outdoor adventure!

Our Adventure Days will be running on:

📅 Monday 12th October
📅 Wednesday 14th October
📅 Friday 16th October
📅 Monday 19th October

Each day will be packed with outdoor activities, giving young people the chance to try something new, challenge themselves and enjoy a day of adventure at Dolphin House. 🧗🛶🌊

⏰ 9am – 4:45pm
💷 £50 per day
🚌 Transport from Queen Margaret Academy or Maybole
🥪 Lunch included
🎒 All equipment provided

🌿 2025/26 — what a year!

At our team meeting a couple weeks ago, we took some time to look back over the 2025/26 academic year — and it’s fair to say it’s been a busy one!

From school residentials and outdoor awards to DofE expeditions, cycling, employability and community programmes, thousands of experiences have taken place across Dolphin House and throughout South Ayrshire over the past year.

Behind every number is someone getting outdoors, learning a new skill, taking on a challenge, achieving an award or simply having an experience they might not otherwise have had. 💙

👋 Welcome to the Team! 🌿

We’re delighted to welcome three new faces to the Dolphin House team!

Camron and Finn have joined us as Modern Apprentices and will spend the next year learning the ropes, gaining hands-on experience and developing the skills and qualifications they’ll need to begin their careers in the outdoor industry.

Ryan has also joined us as an Outdoor Activities Assistant and will be with the team for the next two years, working alongside our instructors and building his skills and experience in outdoor education.

Over the coming months, all three will get involved in everything that life at Dolphin House has to offer—from supporting groups and looking after kit to developing their skills across a wide range of outdoor activities, all while working towards becoming outdoor instructors themselves. 🧗‍♂️🛶🚵

We’re really excited to have them on board and to support them as they start their journeys into the outdoors.

🚲 That’s a wrap on our Summer Cycling Programme! ☀️

It’s been a brilliant few weeks of biking across South Ayrshire, with young people of all ages and abilities getting involved — from some taking their very first pedals to others heading out on the trails and building their MTB skills.

Throughout the summer we’ve run Learn to Ride, Pedal Power, Adventure Rides, Pump Track & Ramps sessions and our Go MTB Trail Award, giving young riders plenty of opportunities to build confidence, learn new skills and, most importantly, have fun on two wheels! 🚲🌲

We’ve loved seeing so many young people getting involved across our different locations, challenging themselves and growing in confidence as the weeks went on.

A huge well done to everyone who joined us this summer, and a big thank you to Scottish Cycling and Rock Up & Ride for their continued support. 👏

We hope everyone has enjoyed their summer of riding — keep getting out on those bikes! 🚲💨

🎒 Staff Training Week! 🌿

As part of our staff training ahead of the new school term, this week we were delighted to welcome Avon Outdoors to Dolphin House for a full day of bushcraft training with the team.

The day gave staff the chance to refresh existing skills, pick up new techniques and share ideas that we can take forward into our bushcraft sessions with visiting groups throughout the year. 🔥🌲

It formed part of three days of staff development and preparation, which also included a full team meeting and summer debrief, paddlesports refresher training, and a much-needed centre and kit reset after a very busy summer.

A huge thank you to Kenny from Avon Outdoors for joining us and sharing his knowledge with the team — a brilliant day of training and plenty for us to take into the new term! 🙌

Now we’re reset, refreshed and ready to welcome our first P7 residential of the school year.

🌿 A brilliant summer with our Champions Board!

That’s a wrap on our summer sessions with the Champions Board, who have joined us every Friday throughout the holidays — bringing along a variety of young people and sharing some of their sessions with Small Steps to Wellbeing too!

It’s been a packed few weeks, with the groups getting stuck into everything from outdoor cooking and bushcraft to paddlesports, caving, abseiling and more. 🛶🔥🧗

It’s been great having everyone down regularly over the summer, seeing different young people getting involved, trying new things and enjoying time outdoors.

A huge well done to everyone who joined us over the holidays, and thanks for spending your Fridays with us! 💙

🏅 Gold DofE Recruitment Day!

Today we welcomed our next group of potential Gold DofE participants to Dolphin House for a day of activities, information and getting to know what Gold is all about!

The group got stuck into rockpooling, archery and team games, alongside sessions covering everything they’ll need to get started — from packing a rucksack and preparing for expeditions, to eDofE and completing their Volunteering, Physical and Skills sections. 🎒🥾

It was brilliant to see so many familiar faces returning after completing their Silver DofE with us last term, ready to take on the next challenge. We also welcomed plenty of new faces looking to join us through Direct Gold entry — a great mix of young people starting the programme from different points.

A really positive start to what we hope will be another fantastic Gold group. We’re looking forward to seeing where their DofE journey takes them! 💛
