And as we sign off for the summer, here’s one last goodbye to all those who have finished here today, we’ll miss you all terribly, but your mountain is waiting…. ❤️

This week we managed to take 6 year groups to the library to find out more about this summers Summer Reading Challenge! We ❤️ Matlock library and are so lucky to have this just down the road, it’s not too late to sign up, just pop down to the library and they’ll be happy to help!

Sports Day 2023
It was touch and go with the weather but thankfully we managed to get through all of the races! We even squeezed in Y6 vs Staff rounders, with the staff team winning 7-4(and a half) It was fantastic to see so many of you turn out to watch- thank you!!

We’re making the most of our last few days with Year 6, today we took them to Oxygen then back to school for the best water fight we’ve ever seen!

We welcomed an esteemed group of visitors this afternoon to wrap up the Mini Police programme, including the Lord Lieutenant of Derbyshire and Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner. Our Mini Police have thoroughly enjoyed the programme and won't hesitate to tell you that visits from the dog section and CSI were among their absolute favourites! They've learned so much about how diverse roles are within the police and we wouldn't be at all surprised to find some of these guys working in CSI in the future! Huge thanks Derbyshire Constabulary Matlock, Cromford, Wirksworth and Darley Dale Police SNT for the opportunity.

Todays Year 6 Leavers assembly ‘I’m an 11 Year old get me out of here !’ was incredible! We are so proud of these guys, they’re a great bunch of young people and school will feel very different without them around!
Huge well done and thank you to Mr Kernaghan for a great effort with the Year 6’s and todays performance 👏👏👏🎬

The football team signed off with a 1-0 win this afternoon. A strong first season in the school league with a 3rd place finish to celebrate. Thank you to all the parents who help us out each week with lifts. We really couldn’t do it without you!

We’ve had a brilliant day in Flamborough with Year 1 and 2 - Year 1 are looking at Rockpools and Year 2 got a tour of the lifeboat station before heading to the beach for science and art lessons!! 🦀🐚🏖️

Day 3
So, this weekend, we’ve all had a go at
Climbing, Zip wire, Raft Building, Giant Swing or Quick Flight, Laser Tag, Aeroball, Jacobs Ladder and Challenge Course. We have loved every minute, and are on our way home - see you soon!

No medals for our teams this year, but the girls were awarded the Fair Play trophy 🏆 👏 A wonderful day of Football- thank you to everyone for your support- to our fabulous Friends Of Castle View for keeping us all fed and watered, to Harry from Active Dales for being a last minute coach and of course a massive shoutout to our very own Mr Wray who does a great job of organising it all 👏👏👏

This was a wonderful art lesson, we made bird nests! The children brought a wonderful variety of nest building material in - thank you so much for such a brilliant effort! 🎨🖌️🖼️

It was wonderful to spend the day with our friends from Acclimbatize Ltd again- doing our favourite activity - raft building! ⛵️🚣‍♂️🚤

Early Years have had a brilliant day at Sundown Adventureland! Same time next year? 👍🏻

Here’s a SATS question for you, how did Year 6 get through 10 packs of Bacon, 10 packs of Sausages, 80 cobs, 100 pancakes, 4kg Strawberries, a watermelon, 4 melons, 4 punnets of Blueberries, 50 croissants, 4 punnets of raspberries and 100 hash browns- and still have room for cake?
We’ll never know, but what we do know is that we could burst with pride at how these stars have approached this week, they’ve been so laid back and taken it all in their stride. Thank you to the amazingly talented Mrs Goodall for another wonderful cake.

We had a great morning in Reception and Year1 today, with lots of parents taking part in their children's Phonics Sessions. We had a super turn out and lots of positive comments. The children loved showing off to their adults how much they knew about sound buttons and Fred Talk! Well done, everyone!

Last week our Year 2's kicked off their new topic with a trip to Yorkshire Wildlife Park what better way to learn about habitats and endangered species?!
