Ohio State University 🤝 SIS GRASS Hybrid

Practice football fields wear unevenly. The hash marks and high traffic zones take the heaviest, most repetitive use, session after session - and Ohio State University's practice football field is no different.

That's why the University chose to stitch hybrid grass into their natural grass practice field, reinforcing those zones to improve the durability and stability of the surface, and giving it more resilience to withstand heavy use.

This project is a great example of the flexibility of hybrid grass - it doesn't necessarily need to be installed across a full field. In this case, it's about reinforcing the high-use areas to improve wear tolerance for years to come.

One year ago we stitched Poland's first hybrid grass pitch. This week we finished our third FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup venue ⚽

It's been a year of positive growth in Poland - our team has now completed SIS GRASS Hybrid installation at Arena Katowice, following Stadion ŁKS in Łódź and Zagłębiowski Park Sportowy in Sosnowiec - all three ready ahead of the tournament starting on 5 September.

Tournament football asks something specific of a pitch - matches every few days, training and warm-ups in between, and a reduced window to recover. Reinforcing natural grass with SIS GRASS Hybrid gives the surface the stability to take that load, and to perform consistently as the schedule builds.

𝗗𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 - 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗶𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

At 18:00 on Saturday, the pitch at Estadio Akron was underwater. By 19:30, Chivas were kicking off against Tijuana.

It's the second time DrainTalent has been properly tested since it was installed in 2025, following a similar storm last September. Both times, the result was the same.

This time, 51mm of rain fell in a short period, with the system extracting 361m³ of water from the pitch profile during the storm.

𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗰 𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 ⚡

The installation of our SIS Heat Dynamic pitch heating system at 1. FC Bocholt marks a significant step for both the club and SIS Pitches, as it is the first pitch in Germany to install a stainless steel grid-based electric pitch heating system.

The club recognised the need for a future-ready field heating solution that can support higher competition requirements while aligning with its sustainability goals. The project was further supported by the municipality's commitment to encouraging sustainable infrastructure, which fully subsidised its installation.

As an electric solution compatible with green energy sources, SIS Heat Dynamic offers an innovative and efficient alternative to conventional hydronic heating systems. In addition to enabling energy savings, our system delivers a much quicker response, and its grid design ensures a more uniform temperature distribution.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this project a success, with a special mention to GALABO Münster and grashobber GmbH for their valuable contribution. We look forward to seeing the system in operation at 1. FC Bocholt.

𝗡𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘀, 𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝗶𝗱 🌱

We've completed the UK's second Rapid-Stitch install of the off-season, with new natural grass laid and reinforced with SIS GRASS Hybrid simultaneously at the MKM Stadium, shared home of Hull City A.F.C. (Premier League) and Hull F.C. (Super League).

Rapid-Stitch projects are typically stitched at 80mm depth, chosen for speed of install and flexibility over a shorter lifespan. At MKM Stadium, the brief called for something more permanent - so we stitched to 180mm depth and 2 x 1.5cm spacing, giving the reinforcement needed for a heavy, multi-use schedule and keeping the stitch in-situ for longer.

It's a project that follows closely behind Everton's stadium, the UK's first Rapid-Stitch install, with turf for both projects supplied by Tillers Turf.

Excellent to see this technology land twice in the UK within days of each other. Hull delivered in collaboration with Premier Pitches and MJ Abbott, and led on site by Will Brockbank, our Natural Grass UK Director.

𝗗𝗮𝗹𝗴𝗮 𝗔𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗮, 𝗔𝘇𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗮𝗶𝗷𝗮𝗻 - 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟱, 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 🏟️

Eleven years after we built it, we've returned to Dalga Arena - this time to reinforce it.

Our work in Azerbaijan goes back to 2010, spanning natural, hybrid and synthetic pitch construction as well as ongoing maintenance.

In 2015, SIS Pitches Eastern Europe constructed the pitch at Dalga Arena in Baku. This year, we returned to stitch SIS GRASS Hybrid into the existing natural grass surface, along with replacing the top 50mm as part of a small renovation to set the pitch up for the years ahead.

It's with great pride both to see the pitch performing well after 11 years, and to be able to return to a valued client to further improve their surfaces. The hybrid reinforcement will allow for a more stable, durable playing surface, improving both performance and playing hours.

Home to Ekstraklasa side Śląsk Wrocław, and one of Poland's busiest multi-use venues, the pitch at Tarczyński Arena takes on a lot more than football.

Last year, our team in Poland returfed the stadium's pitch following a heavy summer concert schedule. This year, we did exactly the same - mobilising our natural grass experts as the concerts ended, and delivering a pitch ready in time for the restart of the football season.

That quality was on full display last weekend, with Tarczyński Arena hosting a pre-season friendly between Manchester United and AC Milan in front of a full house.

San Siro renews with SIS GRASS Hybrid & FlexGrass for the new season ⚽

Our hybrid grass team in partnership with FlexGrass is back at the iconicc San Siro Stadium, continuing a working relationship that spans many years.

Year on year the San Siro turns to SIS GRASS Hybrid to reinforce its pitch for the season ahead - this year is no different.

With FlexGrass recently finishing the returf, our hybrid team moved in to stitch the pitch with our X-Gen Pro-X machines for the 2026/27 season.

As one of the most heavily used stadiums in football, hosting both AC Milan and Inter Milan alongside international fixtures and concerts, San Siro needs a surface built to handle an intense schedule of use. SIS GRASS Hybrid is designed to deliver the durability that schedule requires.

A special mention to Alessandro, one of our installers on site, installing the pitch his club calls home - safe to say this one's personal!

Every winter, a treeline overshadowing the 18th hole tee boxes leaves them short on sunlight, at times unplayable.

The club got in touch to have both tee boxes stitched, and earlier this week we visited the beautiful course, installing SIS GRASS Hybrid at 80mm depth, using a single Spin-X machine - the lightest and most flexible hybrid grass machine, meaning less compaction and less stress on the plant while working in a tight space.

Hybrid reinforcement is built for exactly this kind of challenge - high-wear, low-recovery areas where natural grass alone can't cope. The fibres blend into the existing sward, add stability to the rootzone, and reduce surface damage through play and footfall, helping the tees even when growing conditions are working against them.

The benefits go beyond performance, with less surface damage and fibres blending naturally in, the tees should also hold their appearance better through the winter. And as with hybrid grass across other sports, it doesn't change how the surface plays - golfers won't notice a difference underfoot.
