🌟 What a fantastic week we’ve had at school! 🌟
It’s been another busy week full of exciting learning across all of our classes.
🌈 EYFS & Year 1 have been learning about emotions in PSHE, exploring happiness, sadness, worries and anger and thinking about how our faces and bodies might feel when we experience different emotions. We’ve also been developing our observation skills using our five senses. The children used magnifying glasses to explore shells, listened carefully for the sound of the sea and described how the shells felt. 🐚
Year 1 have also been working hard in maths, counting groups from a larger amount and using what they have learnt about arranging objects in a line to help them count accurately. In Geography, they have been learning about the world’s seven continents, using maps and globes and discussing land, water, ice and the animals that live in different environments. 🌍
🔬 Year 2/3/4 have been developing their science skills through classification. They have been learning how to identify and classify living things using a dichotomous key and even created their own keys to identify different trees from their leaves. They have also made a great start to their gymnastics unit in PE, practising movements, shapes and balances.
🏛️ Year 5/6 have had a busy week too! In History, they have started exploring Ancient Greece and have been debating which of the Archaic, Classical and Hellenistic periods had the most significant legacy. There were some brilliant arguments and persuasive points from each group! They have also been enjoying their new gymnastics unit and working on rolls and balances. In Reading, the children have been rehearsing and performing a script based on Shackleton interviewing for his crew. 🎭
It has been lovely to see everyone settling into the new school year so well and getting stuck into their learning. Well done everyone! 🤩
