If you’re looking for something to keep the kids busy, or a reason to get yourself moving, Martley has a class for both ends of the age range.

Astros, ages 4 to 6, 17:15. Family class, ages 7 and up, 18:00. Senior grade, teens and adults, 19:00, our newest class.

Whatever age you’re starting at, first session is free, no kit needed.

IT'S OFFICIAL, We are expanding!!!

New at Martley: a Wednesday evening class built for adults, teens, and returning students.

From the 15th of July, 19:00 to 20:00, Martley Memorial Hall.

Whatever your age or experience, this session is for you. Aimed at the Older student groups. A smaller, quieter class to learn and build your confidence.

Led by Phil Currie, UK Martial Arts Hall of Fame instructor 2025.

The first session is free. No kit or experience needed.

With this weeks extreme heat, I have taken the exceptional decision to cancel classes. For those who know me, you will know this is an unusual decision, but I think safety takes precedence. The interim grading tomorrow is still on, but my Wed-Fri classes are cancelled. Have a good week, take care in the heat, have more ice cream. See you in class next week.

Celebrating my students is one of the greatest parts of my role as their instructor.

So today we get to celebrate Hugo, who last week after several hours of testing, passed his 1st Degree Taekwondo black belt grading.

After initially training elsewhere, Hugo joined our Martley club when we first opened just over 3 1/2 years ago, since then has shown dedication in his training, taken on a role as a junior team leader and helped develop other junior members of the club.

We look forward to seeing what he does next on his journey beyond black belt.

Martley Astros (ages 4–6)

Is your little one full of energy with nowhere to put it? 🥋
Our Astros class at Martley Memorial Hall is designed specifically for children aged 4–6.

It’s high-energy, structured, and genuinely fun, not just running around.
In a typical session your child will:

✅ Develop coordination and balance
✅ Learn to follow instructions in a group
✅ Build confidence through achievement
✅ Burn energy in a safe, supervised environment
