Last week we had a busy week!
We continued with our under the sea and beach theme. Playing with playdough to give our octopus 8 legs working on our maths skills and talking about all the things under the sea to promote our communication and language. We took our first trip to Cha Cha Chimps and fun was had by all.
We also talked about colours whilst making our marbled shells for our beach display. The children loved getting messy.
A beach scene was made using coloured dried rice and the children worked hard together to help the creatures find their way back home (beach or sea)
We worked on our fine motor skills by cutting and sticking.
We watered our flowers and repotted a few more into bigger pots.
On Friday we went and visited another local childminder where we had lots of fun trying to free the sea creatures. Using our imaginations about how they got stuck in the ice and our initiative to set them free.

What a busy but fun week we had.

This week we have enjoyed making our own boats to go in the water. We used straws to get them from side to side counting how many blows it would take to get from one side to the other. We talked about the colours we chose for our boats and why we chose those colours.
We used glue to make our boats waterproof and it worked. The children loved getting messy in the glue.
We also took a trip to the zoo where we saw lots of animals (the plan was to go to the aquarium bit but it was closed today πŸ™ˆ)

Next week we will be moving onto the beach topic. Looking forward to getting new activities out for the kiddies.

This half term we have been learning about all things sea related. This includes things we may find in the sea and on top of the sea.
Last week all the children enjoyed taking part in making their own sea creatures. Counting legs on octopus, starfish and talking about how some sea creatures dont have any legs at all. We spoke about how things swim and move In the ocean. We also took a trip to the local garden centre where we bought some soil and a big pot to replant our spring onions and strawberries we started to grow last term (we spoke about how they need a little more growing room now) The children enjoyed the outside area where we used our gross motor skills to throw bean bags in a hole and build sandcastles in the sand.
