Ultra Krav Maga

Ultra Krav Maga The most realistic self-defense Krav Maga training club in South East England. Learn online with 500 step-by-step lessons at www.ultrakravonline.com

At Ultra Krav Maga we work hard on the ethos of threat neutralization. A large part of our curriculum is focused on simultaneous defence and using your natural offensive maneuvers and aggression to deal with a violent person. We encourage our students to avoid a confrontation, however finishing a fight as quick as possible is something we promote if the situation is not safe, or you have a loved o

ne with you and you cannot leave. We train to attack the most vulnerable parts of the body. As our students’ safety is of the utmost importance, all of our students must use protective equipment when they train. A large part of our training is dealing with real life situations and awareness, which helps develop a better understanding of your surroundings in a street environment and identifying a threat before an attack might happen. 90 percent off self defense is awareness.

So sick of seeing ‘so-called’ Krav Maga experts teaching knife fighting as Krav Maga. It’s not!

Yes, we have a little of it higher up in our system, but in my opinion it should never become part of the general student syllabus.

Everyone — including me — has had a dig at IKMF and KMG over the years, but one thing I will give them credit for is that, by and large, they stay true to Krav Maga. They don’t try to squeeze every other fighting style and system into KM and then pretend it belongs there.

And don’t even get me started on BJJ and how some of these ‘experts’ are now trying to bring that into Krav Maga as well. Stop it.

Of course it is fantastic to learn and train in other fighting styles. I actively encourage it. But you don’t see karate clubs suddenly teaching BJJ and calling it karate, do you?

I remember when there was basically one global association for Krav Maga. Now there are thousands, and it seems you can become an ‘instructor’ after doing a three-day course. Yes, I know all about certain guys in London too. It’s becoming a disgrace. Imi would be turning in his grave.

Krav Maga is Krav Maga. BJJ is BJJ. Boxing is boxing. Knife fighting is knife fighting.

By all means teach knife fighting in dedicated workshops or seminars — we do — but don’t start pretending it is suddenly part of the core Krav Maga student syllabus.

And if I see one more profile picture of a Krav Maga ‘expert’ posing with knives to promote their club or association as though that somehow represents Krav Maga, I genuinely think my head is going to explode.

Protect the system. Respect its roots. Stop trying to turn Krav Maga into everything else.
