Hello, Everyone! 😊🌸

Feeling reflective…

Just looking through old albums and finding all my old Blossom photos. It feels like a LIFETIME ago that I was running online courses!

I would LOVE to know how my past Blossom pupils are doing now! Some of you were returning to in-person classes; some of you were finding different ways to be home educated; some of you were starting or returning to school and some of you continued your online learning without me once I moved on! 🥲

Whatever journey you’re on, I hope you’re having fun and learning lots! I no longer have my Blossom email address, so message me on here or comment to let me know how your little Blossoms are doing! Sending love to all! 💕

Five Things All Young People Should Know About GCSEs

1. It is not possible for everyone to succeed in their GCSEs. The exam results are referenced against earlier cohorts, meaning that around 30% will get failing results every year. If everyone does very well one year, they'll shift the pass mark so that some will still fail.

2. You can take GCSEs at any age. There is nothing magic about taking them all at age 16. Those who are older (autumn born) do better on average than those who are younger (summer born) when they take them. It is not a level playing field.

3. Learning does not 'only count' if you have a GCSE in it. If you are a passionate musician or linguist or artist, this will be much more important in your life than whether you have a GCSE in music or French or art. Don't let an exam result convince you that you are no good at something.

4. GCSEs can be a stepping stone to college. It is rare for a college to require more than five or six. Some colleges will take you with no GCSEs. Doing nine is something some schools insist on but it isn't essential.

5. A GCSE is a measure of how you performed in a particular set of tests at a particular time in your life. It is not a measure of your worth nor a reflection of your future potential.

The Harmony Centre for alternative education 😊🦋is the fabulous alternative provision centre that I get to call my workplace!

Although I still tutor privately for Blossom (a little bit), I spend five mornings each week as an at Harmony Alternative Education 😊🦋

To say that this place is special is an understatement. Mental health takes top priority at Harmony: therapy dogs, small groups, well-being activities and teaching styles to suit each individual child in our care. It is as special a place for staff as it is for our students!

We cater for primary and secondary age pupils, many paid for using funding through schools or local authorities. Some of our pupils are working towards , , , and we work as a team to support each one through this.

Please follow Harmony Alternative Education on FB and Insta to be part of our little team’s journey 😊💙

One of my alternative provision pupils made this during our lesson this morning! I was told that it was delicious!

I don’t spend much time working on my social media pages at the moment or on developing my Blossom business. Those things have taken a backseat, while I focus on meeting my pupils’ needs and enjoying my own family life. That phase will return one day though!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend!😊💖

Do you home educate your child? 🏡 📚

Would you like some help? ✏️

I specialise in maths, English and art tuition. I teach children aged 5-16 and have extensive experience in supporting autistic children, children with dyslexia and/or dyscalculia and adhd.

Many of my pupils are extremely anxious, so I use a range of creative methods to help them to feel at ease during our lessons. I regularly support parents too, explaining methods clearly so that they can continue the support between our sessions.
