“I don’t think I’d be able to do that.”
Someone said this after watching one of our workout videos.
They were thinking:
“How would I remember all of that?”
And I get it.
From the outside, it can look like everyone walks in…
Knows exactly what they’re doing.
Remembers every exercise.
Uses perfect technique.
Never asks a question.
That is definitely not what happens 😂
We explain the session.
Then someone asks:
“What are we doing again?”
“Which arm?”
“How many reps?”
Totally normal.
That’s why we’re there.
You’re not handed a cookie-cutter programme that looks personal and left to figure it
out.
We coach you.
Remind you what’s next.
Check your technique.
Adapt things when needed.
And gradually push you a little more as we get to know you.
The plan might say squat.
But perhaps that doesn’t feel right.
So we use a chair.
Change the depth.
Change where you hold the weight.
Small changes.
But enough to help you feel comfortable, exercise safely and still progress.
That’s the beauty of resistance exercise.
It can be adapted to:
Your body.
Your confidence.
Your starting point.
Your pace.
I’ve learned that through my own knee rehab too.
Some days I did a full workout.
Some days it was the most boring rehab exercise imaginable.
At one point I was basically training one arm.
But I did what I could.
And that’s the point.
You don’t need to do everything.
You don’t need to remember everything.
You just start with what you can do.
Then we help you build from there.
Our next Fruci Fit 7 Day Trials start Monday 6th July and Monday 20th July.
£10 for the week.

Everything can be adapted for you.
Message or comment “TRIAL” and I’ll send you the details.

PS. You’ll probably forget an exercise at some point. Everyone does. Just look confused in the direction of the coach and we’ll know what to do 😀

I had to carry all 3 upstairs…
I was in two minds about letting the kids stay up for the whole England game last week.
England v Croatia.
World Cup.
I thought:
“You know what… let’s see how it goes.”
By half-time?
One by one…
They’d all fallen asleep.
Which was quite nice.
And rare.
Until I realised I had to carry all three upstairs.
Unless I was willing to wake them up.
^^ absolutely not
I started with the 2-year-old.
A little warm-up, you could say.
Then the middle child.
A bit heavier.
A bit more challenging.
Then the eldest.
^^ progressive overload
That’s how we make progress with strength and resistance exercise.
And it was a good reminder of what strength is actually for.
Not just lifting weights in a studio.
Not just numbers written on a programme.
Not just trying to look a certain way.
But being able to do stuff.
Carry your children or grandchildren.
Lift the shopping.
Move things around the house.
Get up and down from the floor.
Carry the compost up the garden.
Feel confident that your body can do the things life asks of it.
Since injuring my knee playing football, some things I used to do without thinking have felt harder.
And that can be frustrating.
But it also makes you appreciate the basics.
Building strength back.
Practicing movements.
Progressing gradually.
Trusting your body again.
That’s why resistance exercise is such a big part of what we do at Fruci Fit.
It can be adapted.
You don’t need the heaviest weight.
Or to do the same version as anyone else.
You start where you are.
A few more repetitions.
A little more control.
A slightly heavier weight.
Until something that felt hard starts to feel easier.
That’s what fitness is for.
Feeling stronger and more capable in your actual life.

PS. It did dawn on me that this could be the last time I carry my eldest up to bed.
They grow up fast.
Things change fast.
The good news?
You can change how you feel pretty quickly too.

Are you coming?
On Saturday 6th September…
Women from our Chippenham, Marlborough, Devizes and From Home programmes will all come together.
For FruciRox.
And I think having something to work towards can make such a difference.
Because sometimes motivation disappears.
“I’ll go tomorrow”
becomes:
“I’ll start again next week.”
But a date in the diary can help.
A reason to keep showing up.
A reason to get a little stronger.
And before your brain says:
“I wouldn’t be able to do that…”
Yes, you would.
If you can’t run, you can walk.
If you can’t lunge, we adapt it.
If floor work isn’t right for you, we adapt it.
If you need a different weight, we change that too.
You work at your pace.
^^ your pace is the right pace after all
It’s not about competing with everyone else.
It’s about seeing what you can do.
Having some fun.
And maybe surprising yourself.
More than 60 women together.
Supporting each other.
Laughing.
Working hard.
And probably questioning a few life choices halfway through 🤣
Everything is coach-led too.
We’ll help with technique, change exercises and adapt weights where needed.
And I’m sure the Rowdey Cow will have some ice cream waiting afterwards…

PS. You don’t have to do FruciRox. It’s just an optional, welcoming event to work towards with like-minded women around you.
