Feeling Grateful This Year

This year has been incredibly generous to both me and Marlborough School of Languages.

One of the things I am most grateful for is our wonderful team of tutors. We work well together, genuinely enjoy teaching, and share a common commitment to supporting our students.

Most importantly, our students seem happy with what we do. Whether we are helping adults learn a language for pleasure or supporting young people through their exams, we care deeply about helping every student reach their potential.

A particular area of focus for us is supporting secondary school students. Alongside language knowledge, we spend time teaching exam techniques that are often overlooked in schools due to limited teaching time and resources. We have seen first-hand the difference this can make to students' confidence and results.

Personally, I am currently running four Spanish groups for adults at different levels, and they are without question the highlight of my week. Not everyone can say they genuinely enjoy going to work, but I can. Every week I have the privilege of spending time with curious, motivated, and genuinely lovely people who make teaching a pleasure.

We also regularly organise social events that are open to everyone, giving students the opportunity to celebrate and share the cultures, traditions, and languages that bring us together. These events help create the sense of community that is so important to us and allow friendships to develop beyond the classroom.

In addition, each year we run our week-long Summer School, a highlight of the calendar that brings students together for an immersive and enjoyable learning experience. It is a wonderful way to round off the academic year, combining language learning, cultural activities, conversation, and plenty of fun in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere.

As we move through the rest of the year, I feel incredibly thankful for our tutors, our students, and the supportive community we are building together at Marlborough School of Languages.

Fantastic news! 🤩

For the third consecutive year, St John’s Marlborough has kindly agreed to collaborate with the Spanish Exchange Programme run by Hamilton UK, in which we proudly participate as local agents.

We are now looking for host families willing to accommodate Spanish students aged 13–16 who will be attending St John’s as visiting students. Some key information is included in the flyer below, and I would be very happy to discuss the details individually with anyone interested.

The programme has run very successfully in Marlborough over the past two years, leading to some wonderful long-term friendships—and even trips to Spain for some of the students!
