🥚🪂 Continuing Forces Week in Oak Class! 🌬️🚀

Our Year 5 and 6 pupils have been taking on the ultimate Egg Drop Challenge! 🥚💪

The challenge? To design and build a parachute that will carry an egg safely from the top of our play equipment down to the ground! 🪂🏗️

Our young engineers are putting their knowledge of air resistance to the test, exploring how they can slow the fall and protect their precious cargo. 🧠🔬

There’s lots of creativity, teamwork and scientific thinking going on, and they’re all egg-cited to put their designs to the test next week! 🐣🤩

🥚 Will their eggs survive the drop?
🪂 Which parachute will perform best?

🔢🌈 Maths fun in EYFS Maple Class! 🌈🔢

This week, as part of our maths learning, the children in Maple Class have been busy exploring patterns! 🟡🔵🟢

Using colourful pegs and pegboards, the children have been creating their own patterns, carefully choosing colours, spotting sequences and deciding which colour comes next. 🧩✨

Through this fun, hands-on activity, the children have been developing their mathematical thinking, concentration, fine motor skills and problem-solving abilities. 👐🧠

We are so proud of their creativity and enthusiasm as they learn through play! 💙👏

🧭📚🔬 Reading and Science Come Together! 🌳✨

Our Year 3 and 4 children have been continuing their learning about forces with an exciting cross-curricular lesson!

We read a story about Sam, a child who loves science, who got lost in the woods but remembered that his teacher had taught him how to make a compass. Inspired by Sam’s adventure, our young scientists got hands-on and made their own compasses! 🧲💧

The children created temporary magnets by magnetising needles and then carefully floated them on water. They watched in amazement as their needles aligned to point north! 🧭🌍

What a fantastic way to bring reading and science together, developing our scientific understanding, practical skills and teamwork along the way. We were so proud of our curious, enthusiastic young scientists! 👏💡

🎨🖌️ EYFS Maple Class – Little Artists, Big Masterpieces! 🖼️✨

We’ve been busy creating some absolutely incredible self-portraits in EYFS Maple Class this week! 🥰🎨

The children have been thinking carefully about all their facial features, making sure to include their 👀 eyes, 👂 ears, 👃 noses, 👄 mouths, as well as their eyebrows and hair! 💇‍♀️💇‍♂️

We are so proud of their fantastic efforts, creativity and attention to detail. Every portrait is unique, just like our wonderful little artists! 🌈🖍️💖

As part of our London topic, Chestnut Class have been getting creative with some fantastic black line artwork of famous London landmarks! 🖤✏️🏙️
We explored some of London's most iconic sights, including the magnificent Big Ben and other famous landmarks, and used our artistic skills to bring them to life through detailed black line drawings. 🕰️🎨✨

🇬🇧📚 Oak Class have been immersed in World War 2! ✈️🎖️

Our classroom display areas have been transformed to bring our learning to life, helping the children explore the topic across the curriculum in a meaningful and hands-on way. 🌟

Even our science skeleton, Mr Bones, has joined in with the learning and is dressed up as an evacuee! 🦴🎒 He has certainly caused lots of excitement and smiles! 😄

The children have loved immersing themselves in the experience, exploring the sights, stories and experiences of the time. We have also created a topic library filled with books linked to our learning, and these are proving incredibly popular with our budding historians and readers. 📖❤️

It’s wonderful to see such enthusiasm, curiosity and enjoyment as the children discover more about this important period in history. 🥰👏

🐔🌾 Little Red Hen Creations in EYFS! 🌾🐔

We absolutely love our Monday afternoon sessions with Miss Hoad and Miss Mo down in EYFS! 💕✨

Today, the children explored the story of The Little Red Hen through a fantastic hands-on creative activity. 🎨🐔 Using hammers, loose parts, collage materials and lots of imagination, the children created their very own Little Red Hen-inspired masterpieces! 🔨🖌️🧶

It was wonderful to see the children exploring, experimenting, making choices and getting creative. They absolutely loved bringing their ideas to life and were so proud of their creations! 🌟👏

What a brilliant afternoon of creativity, sensory exploration and learning through play! 💛🐔🌾

🍂🐑 A Wonderful Sponsored Walk Over the Wolds! 🥾🌳

What a fantastic Sunday! 💛 Some of our children took part in a sponsored walk over the Wolds, organised by our wonderful FOOS (Friends of Osgodby School). 🌿🥾

It was an amazing day filled with happy children, beautiful countryside, lots of fresh air and plenty of smiles! 😊💚

We are so incredibly blessed to live and learn in such a beautiful part of the world, surrounded by such wonderful natural beauty. 🌾☀️🐑

A huge thank you to FOOS for organising such a lovely event, and to all the families who supported and took part, you managed to raise over £900!!Well done on an amazing achievement. 👏💚

🏺✨ Chestnut Class Gets Creative with Clay! ✨🏺

Chestnut Class have had lots of fun this week exploring and creating with clay! 🤎

As part of our topic, we’ve been getting hands-on and developing our creativity and fine motor skills by making pinch pots and clay tiles. 👐🎨 We’ve loved seeing the children experiment with different shapes, textures and designs, and we’re so proud of their fantastic creations! 🌟
