⭐️Throwback to last week's exciting World Book Day 📚
What an amazing day we had last Thursday where we focused on bedtime stories 🌙 The whole school came together as a reading community and celebrated our love of books, characters and storytelling and what a wonderful celebration it was in our comfiest costumes... our pyjamas! ☺️
Our day began with a fun-filled whole school worship where the children engaged in a game of ‘guess who?’ with W***y Hilly’s very own Masked Reader Challenge that dedicated staff kindly participated in (you can play along yourself if you click the link below!) The children absolutely loved this challenge – this, along with the famous chant, “TAKE IT OFF, TAKE IT OFF” created a real buzz of excitement for the day ahead 🩵
The children then had a wonderful morning where different year groups paired off for a variety of activities with Teachers and Teaching Assistants all involved. They thoroughly enjoyed going on a book cover scavenger hunt in small, mixed aged teams all around the school grounds, where they had to crack the secret code word for the day – ✨imagination. They also had the opportunity to share their favourite bedtime stories with their partner year groups and also hear Teacher’s favourite bedtime stories.
The afternoon was jam packed full with classes engaging in a variety of creative, fun activities focused around our whole school text for the week, ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker. In addition to this, each year group from Y1 to Y6 took part in a special storytelling activity with Mrs Parr in the hall. Children were invited to share some of their short stories they had written themselves and as a whole class, the children then worked together to act out the stories! More to follow on this soon…
