Look at these!! Just some of the incredible flowers we’ve had for sale in the Margate shop this weekend. The wonderful The Garden Gate Project have had an abundance of blooms this summer, and with no events planned for this weekend they didn’t want this weeks ‘pick’ to go to waste. I’ve been bunching them up into bouquets for the Margate shop and flexing any floristry muscles that I have in me. There are just a few left now and as we’re open every single day this week you can still pick up a bunch of you’re quick. Empty buckets and any proceeds from the sales are heading back to the Garden Gate tomorrow 🩷🩷🩷

Taking mum on a little few-days-holiday in Wales, and today we went to the Eisteddfod for the first time. A festival celebrating (the practice and competition of) Welsh culture that is like a mini Glastonbury. Imagine Welsh choirs and national street food, music, poetry, craft, art, talks, stone circles, silliness and seriousness in equal measure. The first of its kind was some 850 years ago, and today it tours the country landing in a new county every year. People of Wales hold regional competitions in performance & music all through the year and the finals are in the arenas at the Eisteddfod. It’s pretty epic, and as you can imagine I gravitated towards the craft and art, even bumping into the brilliant Sarah from Sarah James MBE and in the Celf pavilion. Swipe to the end to see mum posing as a medieval knight in my favourite picture of the whole day.

I’ve got bunches of blooms available in the shop this weekend. Hand picked and wrapped from the beloved local The Garden Gate Project. This is for this weekend only as it’s the summer and they have an abundance of beautiful dahlias. Treat yourself and your home to a bouquet that has grown from just up the road to the old town. Sales contribute to all of the wonderful work they do in the community garden 🩷🌸💐

FRESH LOCAL FLOWERS IN THE SHOP THIS WEEKEND! The vibrant and wholesome local community garden The Garden Gate Project have been growing blooms all spring and summer for their bouquet subscriptions and pick-your-own days. This weekend my little Margate Store on Hawley street will be hosting any bunches that they have left from this week’s pick. I’ll collect the flowers on Friday afternoon, I’ll arrange them, I’ll wrap them in some decorated (by me) paper, and you can come and buy them for your sunny summer weekend at home.
Flowers will be whatever they have in season at the moment and picked this week, but these amazing pictures of some earlier Garden Gate Project flowers are from the lovely Rachel van Hoven

We’re deep in the throes of preparing for this autumns Crefft retreat in West Wales, and I have remembered that back in MARCH - our annual trip was part of a feature for ‘10 of the best creative escapes’ for Country Living UK | !
Amazing to be included in such an impressive shortlist, and a very lovely to have a mention from in her article 🩷
All of the usual planning and developing that you can imagine for an annual creative retreat, is happening over the next few months. There are still spaces available if you’d like to join us for the next one. Link to learn more about the trip is in my Instagram bio, or visit the ‘retreat’ area of the website on zoemurphy.com

Love and kudos go to the attendees from 2024 who’s screen printed outcomes were the superstars of the photo used for the article 🌻

A day or two of serious sun on our faces and look at how transformed we are in hope and heart ☀️
The main thought I have this time of year isn’t ‘wow! It’s spring again!’, instead it’s always ‘wow, look-at-me-being-surprised-that it’s spring again’. Like I had forgotten it would ever get warm, and my body needed a reminder that there are always sunny seasons after the winter.
These gorgeous days at the start of the year aren’t only to enjoy right now. They are useful to squirrel away into metaphor or memory for the darker, cold or hopeless times. Don’t quite forget that there are ALWAYS some warm and bright days somewhere ahead of you.

Being by the coast, I think the seasons feel as present as they do in rural areas. You certainly seem to see a lot of sky out here. Even in seaside resorts that wake-up for the summer it’s still somehow possible to forget that she is only ever right around the corner, marching toward you, undeterred.

This weekend in the store! We’ve been stitching up some samples and some mis-prints to make a teeny tiny selection of discounted cushions for over half price each. Screen-printed and hand made products are heavenly pieces of crafted wholesomeness that we are all blessed to have in our homes at full price - BUT - you know me and my principles, my heart aches to see waste. As a result, there are about 6 cushions in cotton and linen that celebrate the ink testers or accidents, available in the Margate store only, this weekend. 😍

The time has come, when there are just TWO of these Welsh blanket cushions left available in the Margate shop (and online). For some reason there has been a bit of a run on them in the last week, and I’ve warned everyone who got one for themselves that ‘if you want a matching one, this is probably the time to get one’ 😆 It sounds like a sales pitch but I know as soon as the last one goes, someone will get in touch wanting a partner cushion for the individual one they bought last week.
Woven in Wales, stitched up by me, photographed in the Preselis with the sheep and then followed me to Margate to the in-person shop. Lovely, large & plump real wool woven cushions, click on the link in bio to take a look 🐑🩷
