Our support services are designed with the individual service users in mind.


• Motivating people to learn independent living skills including travel training, money skills, cooking and shopping.

• Assisting people to integrate into everyday community activities such as bowling, swimming, cinema, pub lunches and hairdressing.

• Keeping those with more severe mental health issues or disability i

n touch with the relevant statutory services.

• Assisting with shopping and budgeting.

• Assisting with obtaining welfare rights advice.

• Helping to link with social support networks including Mencap, Gateway Club, Youth Clubs and Discos.

• Accompanying people to Opticians, GP, Hospital or Dental appointments.

• Help with finding and keeping accommodation

• Monitoring people’s well-being.

• Undertaking personal support tasks where specified in the Support Plan such as feeding, managing continence, washing and dressing.

• Sitting service.

• Respite service – 24 hour care in your home.

• Personal hygiene and bathing service. Each Support Worker has an enhanced CRB check & POVA check before they are able to work. Support workers undergo induction training, mandatory training, NVQ training and regular supervision from their line manager. This ensures that we deliver the highest quality of service to you. All staff are assessed for training needs on an individual basis. No member of staff is permitted to work with people until we are satisfied they are competent to carry out their duties. Staff are specifically matched to a service user to enable them to utilise previous skills or training and experience. We have a Resource Centre on Westwood Industrial Estate in Margate, we use this Resource Centre as a base when the weather is not so good, but we mainly like to get our Service Users out and about. We meet at the resource centre in the mornings and head out in groups from there.

So yesterday one of our younger staff members Lily celebrated her 21st Birthday!
Congratulations on your 21st Lily! We hope you had a Wonderful day!

Lily first started doing work experience with New Horizons Broad Oak Ltd as part of her Health and Social Care course at EKC Broadstairs College

Then in May 2023 she started her job role with us as a Trainee support worker for a year and then progressed onto a Support worker role. So she has worked with New Horizons for 3 years and 3 months!

Lily works with some of our more complex people and has built great rapports with them all!
She is very creative and has supported our people in completing some beautiful pieces of artwork! She has also been instrumental in creating artwork for our carnival entries for our cars and has also supported our people to create some lovely crafts to sell at our Christmas fayres!
Lily loves getting stuck in with sensory play and always ensures that all of our people have a great time!
Thankyou lily for everything you do for the people you work with and New Horizons.

We recently received this certificate in the post for our Registered Manager Karen Atkinson.
She was absolutely thrilled to be nominated for the outstanding contribution which was given by a local councillor.

We are unsure who nominated her although we have a couple of ideas?

Anyone who knows Karen will know that she always tries to do her very best for the people we work with, their families, our staff team and she also has a passion for teaching young people skills for the future and giving them an opportunity for work experience so that we have support workers for Health and Social care for the future.

Today some of our people went to the cinema to see various films due to the wet weather first thing this morning! Everyone had the choice of which film to watch and had a great time. Some watched The Minions, some watched Spiderman and some watched Paw patrol

What a wonderful community we have built at our Resource centre!

There are some beautiful bro- mances that have been formed over several years and we are so very proud that Resource is a safe place where our people can make bond and find in many cases life long friendships!

We absolutely love the way that our people look out for each other! 🥰😍🥰😍
