Welcome to the Little Acorn Childcare page! Hi!

I'm Kristina and a mother of two - a boy and a girl who are 4 years & 3 years old.

As a mum I know how difficult it can be to find the right childcare that suits you and to find a someone who listens to your needs, treats your children like their own and offers flexibility. I am an Ofsted inspected and registered Nanny with a Level 3 Home Based Childcare Award and I am fully qualified in Paediat

It would be easy to scroll past this post, not read it, “another charity post 🙄” BUT it’s actually SO important. So please take the time to read it! 🙏

If you haven’t been affected by cancer personally, the chances are someone close to you has. It’s massive, this charity is so important in supporting people in so many ways.

Apparently I have 147 Facebook friends 🤣
If everyone who read this donated £1, imagine how amazing that would be!! Or if you can’t personally donate - share this post! Someone you know may be able to ☺️!

Joshua, Ava, Rosanna & Damian are going to be walking 26 miles for this cause, please please support them it’s a big thing for them! And if you can please support myself, Carl Smith & Samantha Card too as we are also walking 26 miles in one day which is going to be horrendous but nothing in comparison to someone going through cancer.

If you’ve read this far, thank you & Please support us in any way you can ❤️ see the link below!

Some of our recent activities:

Making a beanstalk after reading Jack and the Beanstalk. We used tissue paper, leaves, paint, glitter and glue to create these (we printed out photos of the children to stick on the beanstalks so they were climbing it!)

People who help us - Making an ambulance! Using scissors and different foam to create an ambulance after talking about ambulances and paramedics.

Sensory activity using porridge oats for an 18 month old!

My mummy activity - the children coloured/decorated a print out to make into their mummy. After we had a chat about the things they love about their mummies and I wrote this around their drawings for them!

Mother’s Day flowers - we cut out flower shapes for the children to paint, they used sponges and different tools to create different marks.

Yesterday’s activity involved a shape matching game!

The children first identified shapes that I had cut out and laminated (but you could easily use objects in the right shapes).

Then they matched them to the shapes on the ground (garden chalks).

Next we put the shapes into a water tray with some added glitter for a sensory effect!
The children used spoons and tongs to collect the shapes and match them again to the shapes on the ground!

This kept them fully engaged and by the end of the activity they were much more confident with their knowledge of different shapes!

Raid your Recycling! ♻️♻️

It looks just like a big mess but this simple setup is actually great for very little ones (1 - 2) beginning to explore how things work.

Using different tubs, pots & bottles allow children to explore how water moves in different ways.

Scooping and pouring is a great one for developing coordination and motor skills. It also allows children to explore how something gets full or empty!

Talking about what their playing with and what’s happening is developing their communication and language skills.

Playing alongside other children with an activity like this, helps develop their social skills.

We added bubbles and red sand to give an extra sensory experience!

It easy to overlook how something so simple can be beneficial for this age range.

My children made their own photo frames using Mosaic tiles - can’t wait to see the finished results!
