On Friday this week all of the children in school will be taking part in the BIGGEST GAME OF SIMONS SAYS to raise money for Simon Says Bereavement Support Charity. We are a champion school for this charity. Please send in a donation of £1 in a named envelope on Friday 2nd October or pop your donation into the buckets on the doors.

Gardening Club is back with new and returning faces! It was great to see all the children really get stuck in and dirty today as we took out the plants which hadn't survived the summer sun and turn over the compost. A huge thank you to the adults who support me in running the club, Mrs Mulholland and Mrs Conlon. We have had a little move around two giving us two new areas: a flower garden outside the Year 1 classrooms, and a vegetable garden out by the playground. In our next session, we will be doing a lot of planting!

For your information in the morning - this could affect your journey to school. Please allow a little extra time for your journey whilst the roadworks are taking place.

*** 🚨 Mondays Waterside Road Closures! 🚨 ***

Please do not shoot the messenger on this one (as a District Cllr I have ZERO direct say in how and when roadworks take place) but in case not already aware:

From Monday 14th September there will be a number of full and partial planned and emergency road closures in place across Marchwood and Eling. These will very likely have a direct significant impact on our New Forest waterside communities, leading to road traffic congestion, delays, and ultimately longer road journeys. So please do plan ahead accordingly!

🚧 - Hythe Road, Marchwood, closed between Garden City and Veals Lane (gas main replacement)

🚧 - Twiggs Lane, Marchwood, (Forest side of A326), closed from A326 to Arters Lawn (carriageway repairs)

🚧 - Trotts Lane, Marchwood, closed in the area of Holly Cottage (Southern Water mains burst)

🚧 - Marchwood Road, Eling (near Bury Brickfields), single lane closure with temporary traffic lights (Southern Water mains burst)

🚧 - Eling Toll Bridge, closed from both sides owing to Southern Water mains burst at junction of Lexby Road, Eling Lane, Downs Park Crescent

As previously advised, Applemore school buses and BlueStar number 8 timetabled bus services will still serve Marchwood but NOT the bus stops on Hythe Road between Twiggs Lane and Garden City. BlueStar state that a temporary bus stop will be in use in the area of Garden City.

Please do take extra care on our local roads, especially in the locality of Twiggs Lane where the village Infant school and Twiggs Lane pre school are both located.

Keeping the learning going right up until the very last day!
A fun filled day of Science and STEM activities for our Year 2 children!

Did you know that 13 children can stand on 4 balloons without them popping?!
That a ping pong ball can dance?!
That a plastic tube and a metal pole can sing?!
That you can change the shape of paper and make it fly?!
That you can make balloons that are bigger than us?!
That if you add a mentos mint to a bottle of coke you get the most amazing chemical reaction?!
That science is amazing and exciting?!
And…most importantly if you try your best you can follow your dreams and achieve amazing things!
Our Year 2 children do!
