NOW and NEXT
A Wonderful Start to the New School Year!
It is hard to believe that we have already been back at school for four weeks! The children have settled brilliantly into their new classes and routines, and it has been lovely to see their confidence, friendships and enthusiasm grow each day.
This week, we held our first Flock Stars Assembly of the year, where we celebrated our amazing Cygnets. They truly wowed us by demonstrating our school values and proudly showcasing their fantastic knowledge of the 2 times tables. The Cygnets also treated us to some wonderful singing, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. They should be incredibly proud of themselves for setting such a high standard for this year's Flock Stars assemblies.
Attendance Matters
The children have been working incredibly hard on their attendance, and we are delighted to share that five classes achieved over 95% attendance this week, the highest number so far this academic year. Well done to everyone for making attendance a priority.
Our attendance mascot, Arnold Bear, has been busy too! The Swans have proudly won the attendance award twice already this year, and this week the Geese were our attendance winners. We look forward to seeing which class takes Arnold next week.
Looking Ahead
Next week, our Owls class will be taking centre stage as our Flock Stars and will be sharing their learning and knowledge of DARE. We are excited to hear all about the important skills and understanding they have developed.
We also have some exciting visits planned:
Tuesday: Years 4, 5 and 6 will be attending the Harvest Festival at church.
Wednesday: The children's Flu Vaccinations will also take place.
Thursday: Our Ducks (FS2) children will be exploring the local community on a planned walk.
Breakfast and After-School Clubs
Our new Government-Funded Breakfast Club continues to be a great success, providing children with a positive start to their day.
We are also delighted by the popularity of our Sunshine and Smiles Breakfast Club, which starts at 7:30am and costs just £3 per session.
The Aviary Club continues to expand its range of activities and offers children a wonderful opportunity to relax, socialise and unwind after the school day.
Reading at Home
Please remember to use Purple Mash to log your child's reading at home. Regular reading makes a huge difference to children's progress and helps us celebrate their achievements both in school and at home.
Reporting Absence
If your child is unwell and unable to attend school, please contact the school office before 9:00am. It is important that a reason for absence is provided. Where no reason is given, absences may be recorded as unauthorised. Persistent unauthorised absences may result in a referral to the Education Enforcement Team.
Nursery Places Available
We still have places available in our Nursery for a January start, including both 30-hour places and half-day places. We will also be holding Stay and Play Sessions next half term, providing an excellent opportunity for prospective families to visit and experience our nurturing environment.
Exciting Events Coming Soon!
We have lots to look forward to this half term and beyond:
School Photographs - Individual and family photographs will be taken on 7th October, so make sure uniforms are looking extra smart!
School Disco - We are currently planning an exciting Back to the 80s theme ( we will play modern songs too), so get those glow sticks at the ready!
Christmas Fair - One of our favourite community events of the year.
Mrs Pepper's Choir Performances - The choir will be spreading festive cheer with performances at the Four Seasons Shopping Centre and Kings Mill Hospital.
School Christmas Parties - Always a highlight of the festive season.
What an exciting and successful start to the school year it has been.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
Together, we can achieve anything
