🌿 A Little Woodland Inspiration 🌿

At Cedar House, we are so lucky to be surrounded by the beauty and wonder of the woodland. 🌳🍂

Every day brings new opportunities for our little ones to explore, discover, connect and grow — creating wonderful memories along the way. 💚

We wanted to share this special quote that beautifully reflects our love of learning, nature and childhood adventures here at Cedar House.

The babies have been learning all about the colour blue this week! 🫐 💙🦋

They have loved splashing around in a blue themed sensory tray filled with blue glitter, blue sand and lots of different blue objects. They have enjoyed engaging in this activity both inside and outside! The babies have had lots of fun outside this week, from driving around in the cars 🚗 to digging around in the sand 🪏

Inside, the babies have been hunting for blue objects. They have been finding blue building blocks, blue bouncy balls and also feeling different blue materials as they have learned about the colour blue! The babies have also been doing lots of dancing this week too!

Pre-school have spent their week reading lots of different traditional tales! The stories they have focused on this week are The Gingerbread Man, Jack and the Beanstalk, the 3 Little Pigs, Goldilocks and Red Riding Hood!

They have enjoyed retelling these stories in a variety of ways. They have been outside to build the houses 🏘️ of the little pigs, using the wheelbarrows to carry their building materials and choosing bricks 🧱 as they are the strongest! They have also been using the chalk to draw lots of pictures from all the traditional tales, from the beanstalk to the gingerbread man.

Pre-school have been mini chefs this week too! They have enjoyed baking some gingerbread men, weighing out and mixing all of the ingredients together before enjoying them as their pudding after tea time. The children has also made tea for the whole nursery, putting tomato sauce and sprinkling cheese on top of some pizza bases to make yummy cheese pizzas! 🍕

This week, the toddlers have been celebrating Autumn and the harvest festival! 🍁 🎃

They have been doing lots of gardening themselves, digging around in the mud tray outside and pretending to grow some crops of their own. As they have played with the different vegetables, they have talked about how important farmers are in ensuring we are able to eat all of these yummy foods! 🥔 The children have also loved getting their hands dirty in a muddy water tray, using their motor skills to fill and pour different containers!

Inside, the children have been painting and decorating their own scarecrows! They had the choice of a variety of autumnal colours to paint their scarecrow with and they really enjoyed making marks with their paintbrushes! 🖌️ 🎨 As they painted their scarecrows they talked about how farmers use them to scare the birds away so they don’t eat all the delicious crops! 🌱

🌿✨ STAFF SPOTLIGHT ✨🌿

This week, we’re delighted to introduce Ria, our Nursery Senior, as we continue getting to know the wonderful Cedar House family! 💚

📚 Ria’s favourite story to share with the children is The Very Hungry Caterpillar! 🐛🍎

A much-loved story that brings so many opportunities for little ones to explore counting, colours, food, days of the week and the wonderful journey of a caterpillar becoming a beautiful butterfly. 🦋

We wonder what Ria’s favourite part of the story is…? 💚

Keep an eye out for next week’s Staff Spotlight, where another member of our Cedar House family will be sharing one of their favourites! 🌿✨

🍂 SPONSORED WOODLAND WALK 🍂

Get ready for some fresh air and community spirit because our SPONSORED WOODLAND WALK is coming up on Friday, October 16th!

To make sure everyone is prepared for this exciting event, please be on the lookout for a special letter this week.

Your child will be coming home with a letter containing all the details, along with a consent form and a sponsor form.
These forms are crucial for your child's participation and for collecting sponsorships for our chosen charity of the year, ‘BREAKS FOR FAMILIES’. Please take a moment to review and fill them out.

You can find the scheduled walk times for each age group on the poster attached to this post.

If you have any questions or need further clarification, please don't hesitate to ask a member of our staff!
