Caterpillar Surprise!

Our children at nursery have been very busy recently planting and growing their own vegetables and herbs!

We have been using the subscription ‘Pot Gang’ to learn how to grow and take care of our plants. This is a great activity for the children to learn:

- Plant lifecycles
- Showing care and concern for our environment
- Patience and not receiving instant gratification
- Persevering and putting in effort over a long time

Every day our children go straight to the green house to get the watering cans to feed our plants.

But you will never believe the surprise we got when we went over to our Radish plant and found something had been eating the leaves!

After some investigation we found over 30 caterpillars nibbling away at our Radish plant.

The children were very excited about this new revelation, and they wanted to take them inside.

After a bit of research, we found out that we can care for them and grow them like the caterpillars we grew and released in the spring!

(To our radish plants dismay) Say hello to our Caterpillar Colony we are very excited to see what types of butterflies we might see when the hatch.

🌟 We've Been Busy! 🌟

Hello everyone! 👋

We're sorry it's been a little quiet on our page recently. We've been so busy having fun, learning new things, and making lots of wonderful memories together that we haven't had much time to post!

Here's just a glimpse of what we've been up to recently:

🎨 Getting creative with painting, drawing, and messy play.

📚 Enjoying story time and exploring our favourite books.

🌱 Learning about nature through gardening and outdoor adventures.

🧩 Building problem-solving skills with puzzles and construction play.

🎵 Singing songs, dancing, and making music together.

🍎 Practising independence at snack and mealtimes.

🔢 Exploring early maths through counting, sorting, and number games.

✏️ Developing our fine motor skills with mark-making, cutting, and playdough.

🤝 Making new friendships, sharing, and learning how to work together.

🏃 Having lots of fun outside, climbing, running, balancing, and exploring!

Thank you for your continued support and understanding. We love sharing our children's achievements with you, and we'll be posting more of our adventures and special moments again soon.

Ready, Steady, Listen!!

Hey everyone! Who’s ready for a challenge?

We adore reading and we all know how important books are for your children’s development. They help ignite imagination, expand vocabulary and it helps create a bond between child and adult.

With that being said we have teamed up with Usborne books to take part in a sponsored Ready Steady Listen. What this entails is getting your friends, family, colleagues everyone you know to sponsor your child to listen to or read as many stories, books, comics etc as possible to help raise money to buy as many new amazing books for our setting as possible to help encourage a lifelong love of reading starting at nursery.

The event will run 10th November to 24th November so there is plenty of time to prepare and get as many sponsors as possible.

We have a Go Fund Me page linked here (https://gofund.me/cfc31dc2c) anyone wanting to donate online.

We will hand out a letter with more information and sponsorship forms and reading logs for you to take to your friends and family.

But wait there’s more!!

As an extra challenge the child who gets the most sponsors will be able to choose a book from Usborne to take home for themselves!!

Lets all work together to get some amazing reading resources for our nursery.

Halloween party 🎃

Yesterday we hosted our very first Halloween party as a setting and it was spook-tacular 👻

We had a devilish disco room, a spooky sensory area with lots of terrifyingly fun tuff trays to explore, a food stall full of frightful bites and bakes and finally a lucky prize room 🎉

We want to give a massive thank you to all the parents/carers/family members that attended the party. It was amazing to see you all have so much fun with your little ones and it was great to join in with all the fun 🥰

A huge well done to our amazing team here at Little Toes for working together to pull off this fantastic party 🥳
